Being part of an album called "Joy of a toy", this song seems to criticize the materialistic happiness of our society. In the author point of a view, sex and adulthood joys are dull and inferior to innocent children's happiness, represented by the girl on her swing.
Depression can also be understood as an underlying theme, the lyrical speaker is unable to find meaning in his adult life and so begins to have nostalgic thoughts of a past that can never come back.
