This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.

I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
I think this is about drinking too much, and the regret, confusion and depressive state that comes with that.
So I think this song, is associated with somebody using alcohol to escape from their reality. Perhaps from the pressures of their life “the loneliness of being on the roads”, feeling “tired” and over worked but somehow not being able to switch off. Also just from observations of Ben Howard in the media, he seems like he can be quite socially withdrawn and not entirely comfortable in interactions with others. (Big assumption) but social anxiety can be associated with a dependency on alcohol as a means of coping; reducing fears about interactions.
The repetition of “seven bottles” is usually used by writers to ensure the reader's understanding of a subject and to emphasis a certain matter. It highlights the shock of the amount, how did this happen and spiral into so many? The repetition could also be a symbolism for more and more occasions where seven bottles are consumed.
Also, “makes me a weary man, stumble towards everything”- weary as in weak, could be the perception of the self as not quite meeting the mark, being inadequate, stumbling and crashing towards everything in his life... as well as the obvious part of the lyric where alcohol can make you feel off balance and stumble. It could be that alcohol is used to escape from the reality of this self. He could be tired of trying to be someone he is not, to meet a stereotype or the demands of a manager, record company, fans/public and the media.
Lastly, “this world ain’t mine to behold”, could be talking about the battle in reaching fame and success. This may have never been his aim, it’s not the world he wanted, but he does want to make music and have people listen to it. “A long way from home” could emphasize how far away he is from the world he knows, from his home comforts and the people who love him for him.
