I climbed aboard a tidal wave
bearing down upon the city from the ocean
They said it would come any day
like a monster of perpetual devotion
I was surfing it clear
I was crashing through the city streets
where we once went looking for love

I'd change my name if I had one to change
I'd change the world if I wasn't so plain
I see your eyes in my eyes suddenly

I was driving through the open plains
when I came upon a white horse grazing
There was nothing around but him and me
and the lights up in the night sky blazing
I was riding him clear
We went riding through some old street
where I once went looking for love

I'd change my name if I had one to change
I'd change the world if I wasn't so plain
I see your eyes in my eyes suddenly

I climbed aboard a tidal wave
bearing down upon the city from the ocean
They said it would come any day
like a monster of perpetual devotion
I was surfing it clear
Crashing through the city streets
where I once went looking for love

This song has been on my repeat all day. I am just so mesmerized by the beauty of it.

I see it as a deep dream, escapism, perhaps freedom? I am little confused, if anyone has any feedback or interpretations, please share.

Thanks Triple J as always for this great tune.

    My Interpretation

I've been hooked on this song as well since I first heard it in late January.

My thought is that it's about renewal through destruction. Tidal waves, pale horses... but the singer is riding them rather than being killed. To the point, he rides these things through the streets where he once went looking for love; he's older now and not given to the same infatuations of youth, in which case the tidal wave might represent the destructive but necessary changes involved with growing up. The song sounds bittersweet rather than despairing, as if he's saying goodbye to some phase of his life while hopeful for whatever's coming next.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
