"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
To line up to the ring
For a battle that you can't win
Swing as hard as you can swing
It will still mean nothing
Should've seen it coming
It had to happen sometime
But you went and brought a knife
To an all out gunfight
And the only thing to save
Is the banner that you wave
To be wrapped around your grave
You've gone too far, who do you think you are
Is this what you came for, well this means war
Say anything you want
But talk will get you nowhere
The only thing you brought is psychological warfare
Well there's no getting off
And now you got to wonder
Who will dig you out when you're six feet under
And the only thing to save
Is the banner that you wave
To be wrapped around your grave
You've gone too far, who do you think you are
Is this what you came for, well this means war
And the only thing to save
Is the banner that you wave
To be wrapped around your grave
You've gone too far, who do you think you are
Is this what you came for, well this means war
This means war
For a battle that you can't win
Swing as hard as you can swing
It will still mean nothing
Should've seen it coming
It had to happen sometime
But you went and brought a knife
To an all out gunfight
And the only thing to save
Is the banner that you wave
To be wrapped around your grave
You've gone too far, who do you think you are
Is this what you came for, well this means war
Say anything you want
But talk will get you nowhere
The only thing you brought is psychological warfare
Well there's no getting off
And now you got to wonder
Who will dig you out when you're six feet under

Is this what you came for, well this means war
And the only thing to save
Is the banner that you wave
To be wrapped around your grave
You've gone too far, who do you think you are
Is this what you came for, well this means war
This means war

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
This is pretty close to how I feel about SOPA and PIPA.
I think Nickelback is amazing and the song is pretty self explanitory.
It's about a wrestling or boxing match ("Climb into the ring for a battle that you can't win", "Swing as hard as you can swing, it will still mean nothing"). It doesn't say anything about protecting your hands, so I'll say it's about wrestling.
The lines "You've gone to far/Who do you think you are?/Is this what you came for?/Well, this means war" sound like it's an answer to Sum 41's song "A.N.I.C."
Although it was written before the Corey Taylor beef, this song could be used to get back at Corey for the insults he hurled at Chad. Corey, at least Chad shows his face when he is performing. You cover your face like you're from a place that gets cold and snow all year long. You're just jealous because he slept with Avril Lavigne and you didn't.
@seeing Corey shows his face with Stone Sour (his other band). I don't think Corey would be jealous of anything Chad has or had.
