"Mirror" as written by Dwayne Carter, Ramon Owen, Philip Lawrence and Bruno Mars....
With everything happening today
You don't know whether you're coming or going
But you think that you're on your way
Life lined up on the mirror don't blow it

Look at me when I'm talkin' to you
You looking at me but I'm lookin' through you
I see the blood in your eyes
I see the love in disguise
I see the pain hidden in your pride
I see you're not satisfied
And I don't see nobody else
I see myself I'm looking at the

Mirror on the wall, here we are again
Through my rise and fall
You've been my only friend
You told me that they can understand the man I am
So why are we here talkin' to each other again

Uh, I see the truth in your lies
I see nobody by your side
But I'm with you when you re all alone
And you correct me when I'm lookin' wrong
I see that guilt beneath the shame
I see your soul through your window pain
I see the scars that remain
I see you Wayne, I'm lookin' at the

Mirror on the wall, here we are again
Through my rise and fall
You've been my only friend
You told me that they can understand the man I am
So why are we here talkin' to each other again

Lookin' at me now I can see my past
Damn I look just like my fuckin' dad
Light it up, that's smoke at mirrors
I even look good in the broken mirror
I see my momma smile that's a blessin'
I see the change, I see the message
And no message could been any clearer
So I'm starting with the man in the

Mirror on the wall, (MJ taught me that)
Here we are again
Through my rise and fall
You've been my only friend (take them to mars man)
You told me that they can understand the man I am
So why are we here talkin' to each other again

Mirror on the wall, here we are again
Through my rise and fall
You've been my only friend
You told me that they can understand the man I am
So why are we here talkin' to each other again
Mirror on the wall
Hey BP, looks like I did take 'em to mars this time

So why are we talkin' to each other again

Song MeaningMirror by Lil' Wayne is such a deep song to me.

To me Wayne is obviously writing about himself and how he looks in the mirror and always sees this hurt and struggle in himself. He doesn't think that anyone understands him the way that he understands himself so he finds himself talking to this mirror on the wall. In the mirror he sees everything that's hurting him.

I can connect to his song on a personal. I feel as though I won't be accepted by society because of the paths that I have taken and this song really gets me on a deep level. Great song, I don't care what you think about Wayne as an artist.

My InterpretationI find this song beautiful, meaningful and really deep.
He's talking about his inner struggles, pain and the wrong choices he made, which was only understood by his reflection in the mirror. He comforts himself by saying that "they'll understand the man i am" but still,he ends talking to his reflection again.
He finds a true friend in the mirror, but in the same time when he looks at it,he sees all the scars from his past.

My OpinionMan I love this song. I recently had a "talk" with myself very similar to this. It's amazing that there isn't more comments on it.

My Interpretationman the video for this adds so much and paired with the song lyrics, it tells a great story. this is an artist sharing a deep self reflection. only wayne himself can truly understand and appreciate this work to the fullest but it def says alot about him and his pain.
while viewing this i tried to keep in mind that his life was different from mine. and with that i tried to imagine what that ment for him growing up, age 9 signed up to be a rapper. what does that make him think of himself and of what is expected of him? i have no idea(in a video doc. of him he said he was raped at 11 by some woman in a room full of people and had his own kid at 15.. he was drunk or high when he said this so it leads me to think it was a confession of sorts, or maybe just trying to spook the kid he was talking to who was 15... mirror mirror? :3 )
things i see in the video...blood. blood and more blood refrence. from the paint everywhere surrounding him,to it being on his hands and tattoo'd on his back. also MANY suicide/killing self refrences. him gesturing a noose, him hanging sill with feet off gound, and a gun to his head. maybe not suicidal, rather the things hes done have killed a part of him inside. what do i know? awesome video by an awesome ARTIST.

General CommentI agree with the comments of how the songs is based on how Lil' Wayne sees himself. But when I first heard the song, I thought it was about a guy who admits he's gay or a girl admits she's lesbian because when Bruno Mars starts to sing, his part is,
Mirror on the wall, here we are again
    Through my rise and fall
    You’ve been my only friend
You told me that they can understand the man I am
So why are we here talkin’ to each other again

I think of when the girl or guy admits it to someone, they judge him. They treat him differently. Like they don't understand or care about what he feels...

General CommentWhen he says he has his life lined up on the mirror, and not to blow it. He could be talking about blowing lines of coke on the mirror, and maybe why he dont know weather he is coming, maybe he is too high. I dont think so thou. I think he is under alot of pressure bc ppl expect alot from him, he expects alot from him. Its why he is talking to, almost yelling, demanding, himself not to blow it. Versus is about his rise and fall. I dont even know it has to be about being a famous artist, or celebirty. I just think he has disappointed ppl before, but mostly himself. I think he is his own biggest critic, bc he knows he is capable of doing great things. So he has these talks with himself, and prob always has. Weather in good or bad times, he needs to face himself first, and come to terms with it. Rise or fall, disappointment(shame, guilt, lies), or satisfaction, knowing he stayed focused, on track, didnt self sabbotage, get lazy, or let fear get in his way. So i dont think it is hard at all for him to look in the mirror. Face it we all have too, and maybe he wants too be able to like who he is, who he has to see everyday, and live with, live as. He says rise and fall it has been his only friend. So even in the bad he needs to see himself, talk to himself, yell at himself, maybe sort things out with himself until, he can accept, come to terms, learn, or maybe even pat himself on the back, bc maybe he tried his hardest, and did the best he could. In times of rise maybe he needs to just tell himself, he knew he could do it, lets go, keep it up, yeah baby, be proud of his reflection, smile, and like who he sees. He says the scars are still there though, even in them times. So i think he is humble, and dont need to humble himself even in them times. Sounds like it took alot of pain, suffering, loss, judgement, disappointments, made by him, and others. He is probably grateful, and so he does not get ahead of himself. He looks like his dad now. Idk if that is a good thing, a bad thing, or maybe he is just getting older. He is happy his mom is smiling. So as self centered as it sounds. I dont think he is. I think he is just a very honest person with himself, if not with himself in the beginning, or everyone else. He would not even think twice of lying, not even to himself, if he was not a human capable of real emotions. I think he just chooses, not too live ignorantly bliss, too his misfortunes, disappointments, mistakes, hurts, lies, denial, and others as well. He pats himself on the back, when he is lucky, worked hard, accomplished, blessed, did great, and knows who he is, he has guided, and supported, himself, with many others i am sure. We are our own worst enemy, critic, judge. He is human, and he knows himself. Throu suffering, pain, indifference, denial, lies, guilt, shame, sorrow, tears, and throu joy, celebrations, laughter, hard work, proud moments, fame, praise, approval, support, fortune. So with all that, he manages not to get swept away, in the fame, fortune, fans, groupies, other peoples problems, talking shit, bout who is more ghetto than who, or who is better than who. He does not live ignorantly bliss, he dont ignore his problems, or who he is was, wants to be. He still checks in with himself making sure, he is not losing touch, staying humble, proud, person he knows he is. He keeps himself in check, humble, decent, and in doing so. He can look in the mirror, good/bad, and know he will be okay, make it through. He knows what it takes to change, what he dont like, and accept what he cant. In a way he kinda tortures himself, but has too maybe to stay where, and who he needs to be. We can work, with 100,000 ppl, be surrounded by hundreds everyday, live with a dozen, lie next too someone every night, but all that wont matter at the end of the day, when its quiet. Bc all our distractions will be gone, then we will only have ourselves, and all our bliss will be gone. So weather it be a good thing he talks to himself, or looks in the mirror. I dont know, but for me it is. He tries hard to stay in touch, too not ignore his problems, bc he knows denial will catch up too us all, unless we have no emotions. He sees the lies, guilt, shame, but is dealing with it:)

General CommentThe true meaning is kinda creepy.
It's about Lil Wayne being illuminati, and Bruno Mars is not.
So Lil Wayne is struggeling to get rid of all the illuminati thing, but once you are illuminati, you can't go back.
Bruno Mars wants to help Lil Wayne, but it's useless.
Believe it or not, this is something you have to think about 3 times before you truely get it.

Watch the video clip and you will see all the illuminati stuff

General CommentGenius. "Life lined up on the mirror, don't blow it" methaphoricly refers to cocaine. He's obviously hiding himself behind something and the mirror confronts him to what he really is, the only one that cared or can care for what he is. Is him. Afterwards, he starts refering to his father, that he reminds himself of him. Love the " I even look good in a broken mirror" because he sees HOPE. His mother, the good side of him, "I see the change; I see the message". "You told me that they, understand the man I am" and he tells the mirror "Any questions... I come to you... You always have the answer" means that in the end... He's the only one to understand himself. Very few can.
