Well Olivia is taken
But a look like hers can be found from time to time
Yeah Olivia is taken
But a look like hers can be found from time to time

I'm thinking something like Olivia
Is what I need to find

There's only one man in this world
Who gets to sleep with her by his side
There's only man in this world
Who gets to sleep with her by his side

I'm thinking something like Olivia
Could keep me through the night

Now I'm not trying to steal
No lover away from no one, man
No I'm not trying to steal
No lover away from no one, man

But if Olivia herself rolled up my door
I'd have to say I'd let her in

Something like Olivia
Something like Olivia
Something like Olivia
Something like Olivia

I keep thinking something like Olivia
Is what I need to find
Something like Olivia
Something like Olivia
Something like Olivia

I felt the need to post this... My daughter's name is Olivia, she's 5 years old. She is the most precious girl in the whole world. The second I heard this song I played it for her... She said "Did johnny make this song?" I said "Who's Johnny?" She looked at me "He's in my class, he's always looking at me and it creeps me out, but if wrote this song then I'll stop telling him to stop looking at me!"

I really like this song. It's a great song to listen to while thinking about a crush you have on someone when you can't be with them for one reason or another.

I think the lyrics are pretty self explanatory... he wants someone (olivia) but she is taken by someone else. but in general, it's a girl like her that he is looking for.

I'm just so excited to finally have a song with my name it!!

There's always a John Mayer song about longing. You have to wonder sometimes how long this is going to go on.

Then again, I'm not complaining. I love this song.

Like a lot of great songs, it taps on a specific situation which everyone must have gone through at one point in their lives.

This song is like a grown up version of Love Song For No One. Yeah?

I totally feel like it is Olivia Wild as well. She is with an Italian dude and has been with him for a long time. Plus she has been in 3 or 4 popular movies recently and i can totally see John Mayer diggin her.

I bet you anything it's about a guitar. Notice he says "something," not "someone."

    My Opinion

The name Olivia means Goodhearted & Loving - also represents honor, love, peace and victory. In Latin the meaning of the name Olivia is: Olive: symbol of peace.

I love this song. Has a Stevie Ray vibe. I'm thinking this could potentially be about Mr Mayer's old flame; Jennifer Aniston. She played a character called Olivia in a film called "Friends with Money." This might be a stretch though? Maybe it's about Olivia Newton-John? She is a babe. Grease Lightning!

    My Opinion

I'm a personal friend of John, and he told me the original lyrics were "well, chlamydia has taken, and I'm gonna look like this from time to time", but the record company didnt like it so they got him to change it

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
