He said, I got me a nice new apartment
In a city, wouldn't you have hated that?
I'm getting by with a broken heart you left me with.
He hangs up the phone and she whispers back,

Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow
Won't you come back to me?
I'll be here, today and here tomorrow
In dark blue Tennessee

He was lying when he said he moved to L.A.
He's just hiding out on the other side of town
With his head in his hands and she's just 7 miles away
He's staring out the window and puts her picture down saying,

Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow
Won't you come back to me?
I'll be here, today and here tomorrow
In dark blue Tennessee

She almost called him on the night that he wrote
These simple words on his goodbye note

Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow
Won't you come back to me?
I'll be here, today and here tomorrow
In dark blue Tennessee

In dark blue Tennessee

General CommentThis song is heartbreakingly beautiful. The lyrics are pretty straightforward. The couple is too proud and hurt to admit that they have made a mistake in breaking up. So they pretend that they have moved on and try to rub it into each others face that they are doing fine, when in reality they are both slowly dying inside

General CommentThis song is so tragic! It's so subtle and understated, and that's what makes it so beautiful. This song is about a couple that splits up, and they're both too cowardly and proud to admit to each other that they're hurting and still in love with each other. Finally, the guy can't take the pain anymore and commits suicide. In his suicide note, he finally confesses that he still loved her and that he was so depressed. And now he'll be in Tennessee for eternity; she doesn't have to wonder or worry anymore.

My OpinionThis song is so heart breaking. I usually make my way through the song and what I'd feel if it was me who experienced that. I believe we all make mistakes, and sometimes breaking up isn't the solution to a problem. Sometimes it just makes it worse.
