Mouths to feed, wont sleep till he arrives, so he brings his work home.
Late nights waste away plotting a plan, tracing the steps he needs to take,
Till he says, "my job is done, your old enough it's time to leave this home,
And go on your own, I know it's hard, but it's not my problem anymore, not anymore."

Eyes closed children rest unaware, so he keeps their lights dim.
And angels hold their tongues above, with the scowl shaking their fist,
When he says, "my job is done, your old enough it's time to leave this home,
And go on your own, I know it's hard, but it's not my problem anymore, not any more."

My job is done, your old enough, it's time to leave this home.
And go on your own, we had our run now you're old enough to go down your track,
So don't look back, I know it's hard, but it's not my problem anymore, not any more.

I have to say, this song is the second best of the whole Color Spectrum for me. I'll tell you the story my brain concocted through loose images in the first time i heard this song. A man brings his son home to thier old wooded cottage by the train tracks. He raises him as a single parent, strictly, giving him the desire to never stay at his home. The son grows up confused and saddened, but nonetheless he does grow up wanting to leave as his father intended. The day after he turns 18, the father tells his son this harsh words, not even lookin g him in the face. Enraged and hurt, the son turns to leave, carrying what little he has on his back. He hops aboard a traincar passing by and leaves for parts unknown, and falls asleep. He has a dream of his father, as god and he as 'an angel'. His father, at home, is visibly wrecked and drinking a glass of scotch. He goes inside his bed and crawls inside, coughing up blood onto the bedsheets. His stomach churnes as he knew he was about to die. He lays back, clutching a picture of his son to his chest. His son wakes up as the whistle of the train blows, and awakens at a sunset-stricken stop. He raises his head and something in him compels him to look towards home. As he looks in the direction, something on the wall he was sleeping on catches his eye. There is a carving of his fathers name in the metal of the traincar, dated from his own fathers 18th birthday. Tearfully realizing the path he must go on to make a life for himself, he pulls out a small pocket knife and carves his name above his fathers, and the date just like his dad's signature. He then leaves the car. Bacl at home, the floor of the white room the dad lays in turns an effervescent green as he passes on, clutching the picture. The blood from earlier is gone. He dies dreaming of his sons life as a man. [There was also some imagery of a cigarette and the fathers Trademark green gum, as well as the story of the father never leaving his hometown, where he raised his son, and how he thinks of his son as someone who must see a better life.] These stories always pop up in y head when i listen to evocative music in my head. I chose the best possible interpretation. Let me know if you can listen to the song and see this story or any story, for that matter.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
