You think you're so cool,
You think you're so hot,
You got those "go for the throat" eyes
You've got your trouble,
all of the hard times,
No one could touch you if they try.

Cooked up some weird dreams,
escaped a small life
You were the kid's queen every night (OR "You heard the kids scream every night?)
Now you're on late night,
You're doin' co-writes
and you just left the rest behind.
So, you did what you knew,
a show of all you've been through..

But now you're so cool
You think you're so fine
You've got that "go for the throat" mind.
You've got your trouble,
all of the hard times,
You know you should have seen the signs.

So what's the long face?
Nothing but dead eyes..
I couldn't miss them if I tried.
Now that you trampled all of the good times,
you know, I should have seen the signs.

You think for all you've been through,
you wouldn't be such a brute..

And now the bodies are piled so high,
you couldn't hide them if you tried.
And I wish I was you,
I wish I had what you do..

'Cause I'd be so cool,
I'd be so fly,
I'd have that "go for the throat" mind.
Then all the trouble,
yea all the hard time,
no one could touch me in my prime.

And if the gravity should ever bring you down,
if we ever meet right back on the ground,
Remember...

That you're so cool,
that you're so fine
Yes, there are few who would deny.
I know that somewhere,
deep dark down inside,
you're still filled with that light.

You think you're so cool
You think you're so hot
You've got those "go for the throat" eyes
You've got your trouble,
all of those hard times,
No one could touch you in your prime.

General CommentI love me some Jenny Lewis, but there's no denying this is a good song, and she had it coming after My Pet Snakes. Everyone loves a good kiss-off song.

It could be coincidence, but the words 'gravity' and 'brute' stand out to me. Rilo Kiley fans should know that Jenny does lead vocals on Gravity, and that More Adventurous was released on Brute/Beaute records (I think their own label?).

As for Gravity, the lyrics allude to gravity as having karmic properties. The song ends with Jenny singing "You said that gravity was gonna do me in." I don't think Gravity is necessarily about Blake, but it's not too far off to think that he wrote that response bit with the song in mind. ("And if the gravity should ever bring you down, if we ever meet right back on the ground...)
