For 12 Lyrics
I hate to be this person, but here are the official lyrics from their facebook page:
Oh I was in the dark age searching for the ones in my mind.
But I had hit the ground runnin. Steady as you go. I don’t mind. I’m still here today.
Spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes and forever talking when it aint so kind.
But it feels like forever on the run. When your mind turns to fiction.
I had took the long way. I was in the heat. I don’t mind I’m so far away.
But it feels like forever on the run. When your mind turns to fiction.
Nudging the ghost from the skull. A night without sleep.
Vibration comes first to the head and last to the feet.
Spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes and forever talking when it aint so kind.
But it feels like forever on the run. When your mind turns to fiction.
I swear this song is going to be hella famous one day. It evokes these epic feelings inside of me, it's incredible. Now I haven't really formed my own impression of the song, but it gives a lonely, desolate feeling for sure. I really love the line "when your mind turns to fiction", it sticks. Musical and lyrical genius for sure!
I really enjoy this song. I was introduced to them through Radiohead when the Other Lives opened for them here in Co. Listening to this song, I feel whats being emoted is desolation. This song, for me, tells story of a character(whether that be Tabish, neighbor, etc) that has lost him/herself and the thing that once allowed one to identify with those around them. The song carries on with this theme, in that, the character is trying to find its way back or simply out of a mind full of fiction, false reality, fraudulent mind, or something that isn't innately real to the character. I think that this character has gotten caught up in superficialities or has done something that isn't a reflection of who the character is innately.
"Spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes" this character says what wants to be heard whether that be something pleasant, optimistic, etc, its simply what other want to be hearing. "Forever talking when it aint so kind," the character isn't being kind to oneself in that its not being true, saying whats wanted or more easily accepted by others instead of whats really on its mind. "Nudging the ghost from the skull, a night without sleep," the character knows where its self is and trying to coax it out, i.e be more comfortable in its own skin but spends hours to no avail. "Vibration comes first to the head last to the feet," I love this, every action first requires a thought/command. The character is trying to kick start itself into what needs to be done and does so it as listed.
Being Italian, I end up enjoying many English songs because I do not understand all the words. Indeed, I have enjoyed this song till one minute ago: after reading the text I don't know what the message of the song is.
Is there anyone able to explain what that text actually means? I can perfectly translate it into Italian but it still makes no sense at all.
It sounds like these lyrics are about someone who feels lost and alone, searching for meaning in their life. It's like they're trying to find their way through the darkness and uncertainty.
