"Heavens Divide" as written by and Haven Gillespie Beasley Smith....
Up in the mornin' out on the job, work like the devil for my pay
But that lucky old sun has nothin' to do
But roll around heaven all day
Fuss with my woman toil for my kids
Sweat 'til I'm wrinkled and gray
While that lucky old sun has nothin' to do
But roll around heaven all day

Good Lawd above, can't you know I'm pinin'
Tears all in my eyes
Send down that cloud with a silver linin'
Lift me to paradise
Show me that river

Take me across and wash all my troubles away
Like that lucky old sun, give me nothin' to do
But roll around heaven all day

Up in the mornin' out on the job,
Work like the devil for my pay
But that lucky old sun has nothin' to do
But roll around heaven all day
Fuss with my woman toil for my kids
Sweat 'til I'm wrinkled and gray
While that lucky old sun has nothin' to do
But roll around heaven all day

Good Lawd above, can't you know I'm pinin'
Tears all in my eyes
Send down that cloud with a silver linin'
Lift me to paradise
Show me that river

Take me across and wash all my troubles away
Like that lucky old sun, give me nothin' to do
But roll around heaven all day

Song MeaningAnyone familiar with the story behind it won't have any problem understanding the meaning For anyone not familiar, the song is about a person trapped by the makings of the world into being something terrible but necessary. About how your genetics, your circumstances, and the worlds often flawed understanding of how things ought to be can send you down a path that sometimes.... you just cant get away from.

It is about catching a glimpse of that one most perfect thing in life and the circumstances of your life mean that, to do what is right, to do what is necessary, you have to destroy that one thing that you loved, never to feel it again but still go on living the rest of your life dealing with the fallout of the worst greatest thing you ever did.
