Fighting tears, trembling voice straight to my ear
A moment I'll never forget
Someone I love, telling me someone I love
Had just been called to his reward
Twenty-four, a leader a father adored
We'll never be with him again

Take me down to the garden behind the old house
Sail away with me
Words can be the most beautiful or the most cold
I didn't know what to say
To a father who suddenly loses his son
I still think about that every day

Take me down to the garden behind the old house
Sail away with me, break it down
Trace the steps moving to gold town
Lost your past from me
Made the plans and backed out
Stayed at home and did nothing

But now I'm taking the 400 up north
The last time I'll ever see your face
I don't want to believe that this is it
I want to believe in something more
Growing up wasn't easy for this boy
Who only wanted to live and do what's right

I can't feel
I can't feel my heart when I hurt myself
I can't feel
I can't feel the pain when I hurt my friends
I can't feel
But it's taking you further, and further away

Take me down to the garden behind the old house
Sail away with me
Break it down
Trace the steps moving to gold town
Lost your past from me
From me
Take me down to the garden behind the old house
Sail away with me

    Small corrections -

Break it down Trace the steps moving to the gold town Lost your past from me (should be = lost your PATH from me)

Made the plans THEN backed out

...I can't feel my heart when I hurt myself I can't feel the pain when I hurt my friends But it's taking you further and further away

Take me down to the garden behind the old house, sail away with me. Break it down, trace the steps, moving to the gold town, lost your path from me.

    Song Meaning

I think the meaning is pretty straightforward here, it is about the death of a friend and how it affected him and his friends along with him coping with it.

    Song Meaning

I asked Silverstein about this song and Paul Koehler (drummer) said, "the lyrics were written by Shane and depict a the true story of the loss of his cousin. most of the words are literal references to that time in his life and dealing with the pain." Shane in this is referring to Shane Told - lead singer. Super awesome band. I am so pleased to have a band that cares enough that they would take the time to share the meaning of their music. I am now sharing it with you.

    My Interpretation

This song is about a family losing their son. The family friend has no words at that moment to speak. Good song.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
