Looks are deceiving Narcissists are evil, soulless shells of the alive looking good on the outside while the protagonist hides their pain in the subtext: "I feel so good on the outside."
I think 'if you're looking to a point for all that you do' is 'and you're looking for the point to all that you do'.
And 'I keep a fist clenched still' is 'I keep my fist clenched still'.
And I want to say 'it's an ordinary ...???... on the outside' is 'it's the ordinary people who look good on the outside' but I'm not sure. (I love this song to fairly unnatural levels, thank you for posting this!)
I think this is one of the strongest tracks off this album. Meaning?: You never know what's someone is like on the inside. Looks can be deceiving.
Life is deceiving! Most people on this planet don't even know themselves (literally) so it's understandable they don't really know others. Each of us is so complex. We're all just walking around one step away from the edge of insanity and one step away from the other direction of serenity. It's a daily toss up of which way we'll go at any particular moment. And yet we're supposed to understand another human being? HA. I scoff. We're all lucky we manage to get up each day and function as well as well do considering all our internal flaws. God knew exactly what he was doing; I'm guessin' he gave us that damned free will and fallibility because he worried we might take over the world (and his job) if he didn't ;) I like Cold Cave; heard them for the first time just this past year.
