Oh lord I lost you I held you tight
Oh I will hold on to your love in the night
And the black sky will come before our eyes
Oh I, let's lie down in the basement tonight
Oh

Oh lord I've found you, I held you tight
Oh I, and the villains I pull into the sky
And our heart's shake in it
This summer night, oh I
Let's lie down in the basement tonight

I let you go, I let you go,
I let you know that I hold you
Black sky comes to take you from me
I let you know that I hold you
I let you go, I let you go,
I let you know that I hold you
Black sky comes, black sky comes, black sky comes and I hold you

Oh lord I've found you I held you tight
Oh I and the black skies above our eyes tonight
And our hearts breakin in the end tonight, oh I
Let's lie down in the basement tonight

I let you go, I let you go,
I let you know that I hold you
Black sky comes to take you from me
I let you know that I hold you
I let you go, I let you go,
I let you know that I hold you
Black sky comes, black sky comes, black sky comes and I hold you

Oh lord I lost you, I held you tight
Oh I
And the black sky will come for us tonight
And our heart's shakin in the empty night, oh I
Let's lie down in the basement tonight
Oh

I let you go, I let you go,
I let you know that I hold you
Black sky comes to take you from me
I let you know that I hold you
I let you die, I let you die,
I let you die and I hold you
Black sky comes, black sky comes, black sky comes and I hold you

    Song Meaning

Tornado '87 was written about the second deadliest tornado on record for Canada that hit Edmonton, Alberta, that Paul's family lived through. The recollections and references to the sky being dark and the basement are all literal and straightforward - historical and probably my favourite on the album.

    Lyric Correction

In the second chorus: the final sentence it's not "Black sky comes, black sky comes, black sky comes and I hold you"

    but instead

"Black sky comes to take you from me I let you know that I hold you "

    NICE SONG!!!!

    Lyric Correction
You did a pretty good job, When I pre-ordered the album it doesn't come with lyrics, so I doubt you got any. But I have a couple corrections, when he sais the first line, for example "Oh lord I lost you I held you tight." He does say "Oh I." at the end. But when he goes onto the next part, for example "And the black sky will come before our eyes." I am pretty sure this time around he sais "Oh Why." Instead. I think this pattern continues throughout the whole song. But sometimes it does confuse me, I might be wrong but nothing wrong with posting my opinion I'll let you judge.

The next correction is after the first chorus, It should be "Oh lord I found you I held you tight Oh I/Why?, and the black skies are above our house tonight." This I am sure of. After this the line right after it should be "And our hearts breakin' in the empty night oh why?."

Since this didn't come with lyrics I had to figure it out myself a while ago like you probably did, And I got everything else the same so good job. Thank you for posting this still.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
