Yonkers Lyrics

I'm a fucking walking paradox (no i'm not)
threesomes with a fucking triceratops, reptar
rappin' as i'm mocking deaf rock stars
wearing synthetic wigs made of Anwar's dreadlocks, bedrock
harder than a mothafuckin flintstone
making crack rocks outta pussy nigga fishbones
this nigga Jasper tryna get grown, about 5-7 of his bitches in my bedroom
swallow the cinnamon, ima scribble this sinner shit
while Syd is tellin' me that she's been getting intimate with men
(Syd, shut the fuck up) here's the number to my therapist
tell him all your problems, he's fuckin' awesome with listening

Jesus called, he said he's sick of the disses
I told him to quit bitching, this isn't a fucking hotline for a fuckin' shrink
sheesh, i already got mine and he's not fuckin working, i think i'm wasting my damn time
i'm cockin' 3 past 6 and goin' postal
it's the revenge of the dicks, that's 9 cocks that cock 9's
this ain't no v-tech shit or columbine but after bowling i went home for some damn adventure time
i slipped myself some pink xanies
and danced around the house in all over print panties
but mom's gone, that fuckin' broad will never understand me
i'm not gay(e), i juzt wanna boogie to some Marvin
(what you think of haley williams) FUCK her
wolf haley robbin them
i'll crash that fucking airplane that that faggot nigga B.O.B. is in
and stab Bruno Mars in his goddamn esophagus and won't stop until the cops come in
i'm an overacheiver, so how about i start a team of leaders and pick up Stevie Wonder to be the wide receiver
green paper, gold teeth, and pregnant gold retrievers
all i want is, fuck, money, diamonds, and bitches don't need 'em
but where the fat ones at? i got somethin' to feed 'em
in some cooking books the black kids never wanted to read 'em
snap back green ch-ch-ch-chi and fuckin' leaves
it's been a couple months and Tina still ain't permed her fucking weave.

They say success is the best revenge so I beat Deshay up with a stack of magazines I'm in.
Oh, not again, another critic writing report- I'm stabbin' any blogging faggot hipster with a Pitchfork.
still suicidal i am,
i'm Wolf- Tyler put this fuckin' knife in my hand
i'm Wolf- Ace put that fuckin' hole in my head
and i'm Wolf- that was me who shoved the cock in your bitch
(what the fuck man) fuck the fame and all the hype G
i just want to know if my father would ever like me
but i don't give a fuck so he's probably just like me
A MOTHERFUCKING GOBLIN
(fuck everything man) that's what my conscious said
then the bunny hopped off my shoulder, now my conscious's dead
now the only guidance that i have is splattered on cement
actions speak louder than words, let me try this shit
DEAD.

Cover art for Yonkers lyrics by Tyler, the Creator

This song is about him arguing with the person inside is head, who he wants to be. Look up the definition of paradox, it means contradiction. The whole song is a contradictions of itself.

"I'm a fuckin walkin paradox 'no I'm not'" (contradiction)

"Green paper, gold teeth and pregnant gold retrievers, all I want. Fuck money, diamonds and bitches don't need em" (green paper= money, gold teether=jewels/diamonds, pregnant gold retrievers=bitches so yet another contradiction)

Everyone has a voice inside there head telling them to do bad things, to be the cool person they want to be. For him this is that person.

He says in a interview explaining this song all this. He doesn't just rap about stupid things, sure he's inappropriate but he's young, joking around and a lot of his songs have a deeper meaning. So don't judge a book by it's cover because you're obviously not complex enough to look past the cover.

for real wolf gang is the best thing to happen to music in recent memory i'll be posting more lyrics when i get the time

Are you serious? they're good but they're not music changing good. I'd hate to say this, but Lady Gaga has changed music more than Wolf Gang ever will. Wolf Gang go hard as hell, but they're not "the best happen in music"

Not Valid

Dude, there has been nothing but shit coming out for the past few years. I fucking hate all this mainstream bullshit OFWGKTA is the best thing out at the moment. BTW; @seantaylorbro I rated your comment up by accident man sorry.

Not Valid

@seantaylorbro: lady gaga? are you serious? when you obviously can hear and see where she stole everything from? regarding her madonna, ace of base, club kids nyc and leigh bowery etc have been what truly changed art and music otherwise gaga wouldn't have to steal from them. all of gaga's work is just a mash-up of successful eurodance and pop. when odd future are actually really daring and creative to invent something honest and unique. and most of them guys have been only teenagers when they started this massive stuff. more kids nowadays should not just give a fuck and create...

Amazing! Who would have thought to make a song of complete contradiction?! Tyler is so creative! Alot of people rap to this song without knowing, thats what I love about it though it's like a secret. People look at the video and say "How could you listen to Tyler The Creator, he's crazy?!" They just don't get him. He directed the video "Yonkers" himself which I think is unbeleivably clever and artistic. If you go to mtv.com and watch his video scroll down and you'll see Director: Wolf Haley (his alter-ego).

And also in an interview he says that he actually doesn't have a therapist, basically its his conscience.

It was already kind of said, but the entire song is about him having an argument with his alter ego, Wolf Haley, who he wants to be ultimately. If you look at the director of the video on Youtube, it says Wolf Haley. Example other than the obvious ones, (i'm an overachiever, so how about i start a team of leaders and pick up Stevie Wonder to be the wide receiver" -contradiction because you wouldn't want a blind guy on your team) Tyler says, one thing in the song, Wolf Haley completes the contradiction with his input. There's a youtube video where they interview Tyler and he explains it. Pure gold. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN5Alud0G6s

In my opinion Tyler isn't looking at this like music where he's talking about himself. He sees his music and videos as works of art, he sees himself as more of a director than a musician. I think he's using this just as a break in project so he can show off his skill and end up doing what he really wants to do.

I think people looking for a overarching meaning for this song "or most hip hop songs, really" are not going to find it. To me, it's more of a stream-of-consciousness dialogue with a framing device, full of the usually wordplay, jokes, and metaphors usual to the genre with dark, sarcastic, irreverent, and absurd tones and themes. The framing device comes from the album concept which spans over both albums, where a character using his own voice pitched down named Dr. TC (or something) puts Tyler through a youth therapy session. So that's the basic narrative, but obviously he goes off the rails quite a bit considering, y'know, it's a rap.

Some explanation to various jokes and references (that I get at least lol): "swallow the cinnamon" Swallowing a spoonful of cinnamon is said to be remarkably difficult. Also, it makes for an entertaining and absurd rhyme. "scribble this sin and shit" "Jesus called he says he's sick of the disses" Tyler is an outspoken atheist. In order to spark controversy and troll the religious majority he often, and especially in his first album, insults Jesus personally. "here's the number to my therapist" "this isn't a fucking hotline for a fucking shrink sheesh I already got mine" Tyler has spent time in therapy, not to mention the aforementioned Dr TC character. Plus, the first line serves as a hilarious way to tell Syd to tell someone who cares lol. "pink Xannies" Xantac "Adventure Time" is a surreal cartoon known for being popular among the older demographic. "Haley William, B.o.B., and Bruno Mars" are all popular musicians that have recorded together. Their music could be considered pretty milktoast, banal, and predictable. "how bout I start a team of leaders" probably talking about Wolf Gang here. "I'm stabbing any blogging faggot hipster with a Pitchfork" Pitchfork media is a popular and commonly derided music review website that is regularly associated with hipsters. "I'm not gay, I just wanna boogie to some Marvin" (Gaye... geddit?)

Plenty of the lyrics I'm sure are just plain Dada absurdism (triceratops, Stevie Wonder) All in all these three verses are pretty jokey, which is probably why I like it so much.

This song combined with the video creeped the fuck out of me. I love it, but I sure as hell ain't listening to it with the lights off...

This guy is really good. I was afraid to check him and Odd Future out after all the hype, but damn they're all creative, interesting people just like their songs.

LOL I feel the same way. It's like I really love how clever and talented Tyler/OFWGKTA is but I just can't beleive that it appeals to me. I usually listen clean music and this is the total opposite.

that site misses at least one thing though. the line "wearing synthetic wigs made of anwar's dreadlocks" also probably refers to oil. ANWR (arctic national wildlife refuge, pronounced an-war) is a provocative drilling site in alaska. Synthetic wigs (i think) are made from plastic products which are originally petroleum. so the synthetic wigs really are ANWR's dreadlocks. or i'm overanalyzing.

Lol you are so far from what he meant. Anwar is a model with dreadlocks dude. He is regularly used in street wear companies' look books to model their clothing. Tyler, for lack of a better word, is basically "sponsored" by supreme to wear their clothing. Supreme is arguably the biggest clothing company in terms of street wear. So no, he actually meant a real hair wig made from the dreadlocks of Anwar, the model.
