    Yes indeed Wiz khalifa is from Pittsburgh and loves the Steelers, but this song is not about them.     Song Meaning
    Khalifa uses repetition to alternate between black, an archetypical color representing death and chaos, and yellow, a color associated with hope and prosperity. He juxtaposes his dark upbringing, perhaps alluding to his struggles as a young black man, with the color of gold, treasure, and what may be known as "bling." The recurrent automotive language is an important motif because of its representation of sexual frustration. The speaker's financial ups and downs culminate on his usage of a car as a sexual surrogate, which may symbolize some level of impotence or emasculation. If this is true, it becomes evident that the black-and-yellow contrast is a reflection of the cognitive dissonance of a financially and sexually unstable individual. When trying to express his frustration, Mr. Khalifa could come up with little more than "black and yellow." The frustrated outcry, "You know what it is!" invites the reader to reach deeper to figure out the speaker's plight.

    The song is about Wiz's love for Pittsburgh in general. Everything in Pittsburgh is black and gold- it's the official color of the city. All the major sports teams' colors are black and gold. He says black and yellow because it's more catchy and the Steelers' gold is bright (many outsiders call it yellow). He's singing about reppin' his hometown. When you see him, you know everything will be black and yellow- from his diamonds to his car. The rest of the lyrics are just him talking about how he's made it and living the good life but he's still proud to be from Pittsburgh. This is a fact.
