Early summer days the sun rays catch my eyes
The hour has passed away we're all left here outside
With everything forgotten it's really quite easy
Get sick get well but please don't leave me

You have to be a man you have to get busy working
If you're not lying you're trying to be someone else
Sleep off the darkness you're eyelids hide the blood-shooting
You're pillow's talking and I'm walking home with you

Here it comes again
The tidal wave of young pretenders
They all get fucked and sit around for hours

Drinks in cups they pick them up and they
Put them down on a table top and
All in good time they slowly unwind
And lie in the cold on the flood

"What are they good for?" the jokers ask the thieves
"We're OK we have something to say about their needs"
If the day comes when everyone's at peace
Let me know, I'll run home and ring the police

Here it comes again
The sound of a new trend
The all night disco party's popping
So no need for stopping

Then there's you, and then there's me
And there's something in between
Turn off the lights and the silver screen
And tell me something new
I'm only seventeen.
"Sympathy is not an option"
"After all you are just an invention"

You're still trying to find us
Your eyelids can't hide the blindness
Focus on your entrance
Make sure he sees you are timeless.
Did you see her making eyes at me?
The bell of the disco ball down on her knees...

I can see you from here I can't stand it I'm tired
And I'm feeling you're stare you could set me on fire
I'll daydream my way into you where I'll stay
And smile as I long for the end of the day
And I'll sigh at times of desire
Floating round my head till my heart expires

I want to be you and me
I want to be so young and free
I want to be your escapee
I want to be your fantasy

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
