In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
No he encontrado lo que Los Planetas dicen de esta canción, aunque yo la veo de dos maneras:
1- Cuando empecé a escuchar esta canción, lo primero que pensé fue:
La ha cagado!!!. Y ahora busca una manera de conseguir que su pareja le vuelva a dirigir la palabra. ¡Y segun avanza la letra, parece que no es la primera vez que la lía parda! Y además, me parece el típico/a que busca hacer un gesto, un regalo, una sorpresa, un numerito o cualquier otra cosa que tape la mierda que ha hecho... con poco esfuerzo:
"Tan sólo necesito una victoria, una victoria nada más."
Al llegar a la última estrofa viene la sorpresa.
Ahora el mismo que antes parecía un/a miserable liante, ahora es quien parece que está al límite del aguante, y que ama. Así que en realidad se esfuerza en arreglar la relación: "Y aunque cada vez parece más difícil, voy a intentarlo una vez más"
Parece más la historia de alguien que aguanta todas las miserias que le da su pareja...aunque las mentiras y los maltratos nunca terminan.
Al final, parece que hay un momento en que le queda claro que su amor no es correspondido en absoluto: "Pensé que me querías, ahora sé que no es verdad"
2- Pero si le das un par de vueltas a todo, parece que hay otra manera de entender la letra:
¿Es sólo alguien al que le gusta otra persona y no le están haciendo ni puto caso? Después de decirle que le gusta, parece que le/a han rechazado y está intentando llamar la atención de alguna manera que sea llamativa.
"Ahora sólo necesito una nueva oportunidad" "Ahora sólo necesito una victoria, una victoria nada más"
Mientras que en realidad están pasando olímpicamente de él (o ella). Hasta podría decirse que ya se ha fijado en algún otro y cada vez le presta menos atención:
"Lo he estado intentando. Dios sabe que es verdad. Y aunque cada vez parece más difícil, voy a intentarlo una vez más."
Aunque en la última estrofa reconoce que no va a lograr su amor. Fin
Es cojonudo que algo escrito de manera tan sencilla se pueda ver de varias maneras.
