Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Make a wish when your childhood dies
Hear the knock, knock, knock when she cries
We're all alone tonight

Hold your breath when the blackbird flies
Count to 17 and close your eyes
I’ll keep you safe inside

He burns
My skin
Never mind about the shape I’m in - I’ll keep you safe tonight
Yeah, yeah
(Shut up and run with me)

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Blow a kiss at the methane skies
See the rust through your playground eyes
We’re all in love tonight (all in love tonight)

Leave a dream where the fallout lies
Watch it grow where the tearstain dries
To keep you safe tonight

He burns
My skin
Never mind about the shape I’m in - I’ll keep you safe tonight
Yeah, yeah
(Shut up and run with me)

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Love, love, love won’t stop this
Bomb, bomb, love won't stop this
Bomb, bomb, love won't stop this bomb

Run, run, bunny, run
Run, run, bunny, run

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Move your body when the sunlight dies
Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow
Everybody hide

Well, I might need to explain the whole album form you to understand. After they get Grace from the SCARECROW and they all die, they are taken to the planetary (a brain washing place in the form of a party or disco) and turned into Draculoids but they have strong minds from working with Dr,Death so it dosent work on them and they are just revived. Once alive, Fun Ghoul Jet-Star and the Kobra Kid escape but party poison has fallen in love with another captive, Bunny. He stays to be with her and the others escape and fight off Exterminator (the police force of battery City) they head back to the desert to join the resistance with Showpony and Dr,D. Party poison and bunny decide to escape and take everyone with them. once they succeed they are stopped by the SCARECROW and in save yourself ill hold them back, Party Poison takes a bullet for Bunny and in the song SCARECROW he tells her he loves her and to find the others before Summertime. (Summertime is where the sun doesnt shine at all for the cours of summer) She succeeds in finding them before Summertime and they hide underground for awhile as SCARECROW succeed in making Party poison a Draculoid and when summertime ends, they attack Battery City to get Party back but he is the ultimate Draculoid but Bunny makes him normal by kissing him. They kill the Asian lady and then they kill Korse and leave for the desert. They go about their daily lives as Dr.D and showpony begin to start to leave as they are i,legal pirate radio hosts. Thats what this song is about, PP telling bunny he loves her and to get out before Summertime.

    My Interpretation

I always interpreted this song to be about nuclear war.

The S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W could be a code word for nuclear bomb. "He burns my skin" could be talking about radiation from the bomb. If a nuclear bomb ever broke out, everybody would have to grow up in order to survive: "Make a wish when you childhood dies." "Hear the knock, knock, knock when she cries. We're all alone tonight." could be talking about hiding in a shelter and not being able to let the people knocking outside in.

"Hold your breath when a blackbird flies." Animals always know when something bad is going to happen before humans do, and the blackbird is symbolic, so it could be telling someone to hold their breath as to not breathe in fumes. "I'll keep you safe inside." means that someone's keeping a person that the really care about inside a shelter to keep them safe.

"Move your body when the sunlight dies Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow." The sun would disappear because of fumes if a nuclear war would break out, so he's saying to run when the sun starts to grow black. The skies would be engulfed in methane and everything covered in rust. Playground eyes is a reference to your innocence disappearing and seeing the hate and pain that is killing the world.

"Love, love, love won't stop this bomb, bomb." almost seems as if it's purposely trying to contradict Beatles 'All You Need Is Love' by saying that even love can't save them from such horror as a nuclear war.

The song being a metaphor for nuclear war has always just made sense to me. Of course, it also could be interpreted as a metaphor for the people of society's loss of individuality, too. Nuclear war just makes more sense to me.

It seems to me this entire song is a Catcher referrence. "Everybody hide your body from the scarecrow" sounds a lot like "If a body catch a body comin' through the rye" (at least Holden's version of the poem). The scarecrow and the rye field are both symbolic of being pushed off the edge, except the scarecrow does this through fear rather than preventing one from seeing past their boundaries. This "edge" is, of course, the loss of innocence; "Make a wish when your childhood dies." "I'll keep you safe inside" is Holden's protecting the children's innocence.

I also know Catcher is Gerard's favorite book (mine as well, so I know it when I hear it{: ).

    Just a theory.

    Song Meaning

Okay so I was watching these scetches Gerard had made from all the characters (apparently they came with the iTunes booklet or something). And at Korse's scetch he had written: 'Elite exterminators are called scarecrows'. So that's kinda how this song fits the whole killjoy-concept. The killjoys are hiding from Korse (or other elite exterminators).

    I think it's

"everybody hide your body from the scarecrow"

"we're all alone tonight" rather than just "all alone tonight"

"heat burns my skin never mind about the shape I'm in"

again, a tone of helplessness, "love won't stop this" and how it ends with "everybody hide," the story is taking a dark turn...

Why do people post lyrics on here that are so off? How dumb can you possibly be? If you aren't sure, let someone who paid for the album come on here and post them from the booklet. Seriously people....

I absolutely adore this song but I think the lyrics sound better if, instead of "He burns my skin," it was "Heat burns my skin"...

    I dunno :)

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
