I listened to this song over and over and over (over and again...hehe get it) trying to get the lyrics, because, no site had all the lyrics! So I'm not sure if they're 100% correct, but I'm going to tell you my interpretation based on, well, mainly the lyrics that I know are correct; but yeah....
So. This is just my interpretation. But yeah.
So when I first heard Amiina's music, what I kept calling it was a Form of Escape. Idk who or what I heard that from, but their music is just something you can get lost in...it's soooo deep and intricate and beautiful and so that's just my perfect way to describe it.
I already had that mindset when I first heard this song. Looking at the lyrics, I'm like, "oh my gosh, this is a song about a form of escape, just like their music" idk it just seems SO fitting! Haha but here let me break it down
"We cross the sea over and again Traveling with sun and seagulls All day around, around in our boat" - that's like going on an adventure in life. Doing something new, trying something different, exploring the world...I almost feel like they're referring to their music here; exploring different sounds and 'traveling' with these different thoughts and ideas with their instruments ("in our boat") to finally end up with something beautiful.
"Feeling fine, living to the lights Waiting for the unexpected There we're fine, ah-ah-ah There we will play, ??? In our different purifies ???" Obviously these lyrics are pretty jumbled.... but I still think that this goes along with what I just said; waiting for the unexpected. Waiting for that time when they realize how perfect a sound is, and how magical it is, haha idk.
"How can we know, trying, trying down Making life go back to normal." I think this just kind of wraps it up. Like if the meaning really is "creating music is like escaping to another world" like I'm seeming to assume, then this works. "making life go back to normal" finishing a song, or even finishing playing that song, ends the magic. The magic still lingers, but then eventually life will go back to normal.
I'm not sure. I just think this song is about amiina's personal escape from reality.
