In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
These tears are carving trenches in my skin.
Put down the microscope, rip off my scales and take a look inside,
'cause I feel like... like Jesus don't... don't come around much more these days.
Skeletons are falling out through every fracture.
Look away, look away. There's nothing to see here.
Lies and mistakes all know me by my name, and...
and now they refuse to leave me alone, haunting me with their mutiny.
But there's no future in... in being a dinosaur, and...
and there's no future in the way I have been living.
But there's a hell of a past, so pull up a chair and I'll give you a good story,
because I know you're not attracted to the truth.
Skeletons are falling out through every fracture.
Look away, look away. There's nothing to see here.
Skeletons are falling out through every fracture.
Look away, look away. There's nothing to see here.
There's a hell of a past, so pull up a chair and I'll give you a good story.

Page

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
It's about a man trying to forget his past and move on?
Evolution:) Where in the song did anybody read/hear that???? His lies and mistakes haunt him; that's his guilty conscience speaking. It interferes with him being able to allow others into his world. He admits that there's no future in rehashing the past...of holding onto his sins. He is tongue in cheek when he says to pull up a chair. He believes the person only says s/he wants to hear about his true self...that s/he will not be accepting regardless of the claims made otherwise. This is a song about human fear...of not being accepted for either who we are or who we believe we are. Evolution???? The only angle I see is that hopefully we all evolve into more trusting individuals who learn to accept ourselves and our shortcomings...
"Put down the microscope, rip off my scales and take a look inside"
Reference to evolution, from land animals coming from the sea.
"But there's no future in... in being a dinosaur, and... and there's no future in the way I have been living."
The view that in todays modern science, it leans towards the idea there is no God/afterlife.
"But there's a hell of a past, so pull up a chair and I'll give you a good story, because I know you're not attracted to the truth."
Hell of a past, refering to the Earths long history. Not attracted to the truth, religious people general don't like to believe evolution, or there is evidence that suggests evolution took place, and the earth and life is much older than the bible suggests.
(Sorry, I'm uber bad at converting thought into words, but hopefully someone could do a better job)
Doubtful. There is no science which proves evolution; it is called the theory of evolution because it is only scientific theory unlike adaptation which is considered scientific law. Darwin was a Christian anyways my friend; however, I am more inclined to see the song as the speaker yielding to someone either internal or external because he or she has tried to hold on to the past for much to long. I say that because that is what I relate to in the song.

Very true mate, it is called the theory of evolution.
However, I doubt you are inclined to jumping off a bridge because gravity is a theory too.
I agree with your interpretation of the song, holding on to the past only weighs you down and you have let it go.
