You think I'm pretty
Without any make-up on
You think I'm funny
When I tell the punch line wrong
I know you get me
So I'll let my walls come down, down

Before you met me
I was alright
But things were kinda heavy
You brought me to life
Now every February
You'll be my Valentine, Valentine

Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance until we die
You and I
We'll be young forever

You make me feel like I'm living a, teenage, dream
The way you turn me on
I, can't, sleep
Let's run away
And don't ever look back
Don't ever look back

My, heart, stops
When you look at me
Just, one, touch
Now baby I believe
This, is, real
So take a chance
And don't ever look back
Don't ever look back

We drove to Cali
And got drunk on the beach
Got a motel and
Built a fort out of sheets
I finally found you
My missing puzzle piece
I'm complete

Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance until we die
You and I
We'll be young forever

You make me feel like I'm living a, teenage, dream
The way you turn me on
I, can't, sleep
Let's runaway
And don't ever look back
Don't ever look back

My, heart, stops
When you look at me
Just, one, touch
Now baby I believe
This, is, real
So take a chance
And don't ever look back
Don't ever look back

I'ma get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight

Let you put your hands on me
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight

You, make, me feel like I'm living a, teenage, dream
The way you turn me on
I, can't, sleep
Let's runaway
And don't ever look back
Don't ever look back

My, heart, stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This, is, real
So take a chance
And don't ever look back
Don't ever look back

I'ma get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight

Let you put your hands on me
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight (tonight, tonight, tonight)

This song makes me so happy because it reminds me how amazing it feels to be in love with someone.

"I let my walls come down" "let's go all the way tonight" "We drove to Cali and got drunk on the beach" "Got a motel and built a floor out of sheets" "I might get your heart racing" "Let you put your hands on me" "Be your teenage dream tonight"

Now, it doesn't imply that they are teenagers, but it says all those lines in accordance with those being the teenage dream. It's saying that sex is the teenage dream. Now that could be questioned, and normally I give people the benefit of the doubt, but come on. This is Katy Perry we're talking about. The same artist that sang "California Gurls" and "I kissed a Girl and I liked it". Promoting teen sex is something that Katy Perry would so do.

You Guys are missing the point, This song is an Homage to Teenage love, You know your first love that you had your first kiss, your first dance, your first everything. The First guy or girl that broke your heart, hahaha every time I listen to this song, I cant help but smile, because it reminds me of my youthful days which by the way isn't that far behind considering I'm 23 hahaha. That what this song is, its not to promote promiscuity between teenagers trust me they are promiscuous enough, but Katy perry is invoking the spirit of Teenage love and the music video also show is as well like when the main squeeze guy is in the basketball room and punching the punch bags and Katy sees him working out, she is getting something in her locker room hello it speaks right there.

i think a lot of people commenting on this song "promoting" teenage sex are living in the dark ages. teenages were having sex before they heard this song and will continue doing so regardless. teenagers have every right to make their own choices and they do. dont you people who are complaining have any fond memories of sexual encounters as a teenager? theyre some of the best times of your life. why should we have to wait til marriage? marriage is an absolute joke, you shouldnt have to have a big extravagant and expensive ceremony and legally bind yourself to someone in order to prove your love. it's people like these whingers that make teenage sex that much better, because we're doing exactly what you don't want us to. we're so much more free than people like you.

Excuse me for my horrible english

I tend to think Ms. Perry is not talking about teenagers having sex. Teenage dream actually stand for how do call it... wet dreams? LOL Maybe, fuck, I suck at this. Well my point is that she is not precisely a teenage, she is 26 year, I mean come oooonnnnn. So, in my opinion, she is just trying to explain how love makes you feel younger and alive, it doesn´t matter if you are 18 or 80.. To sum up, she is trying to describe how hot Russel is and how much she wants to have sex with him... Thank you Katy, another reason to hate you...

    bitch... =)

This song reminds me of this one girl im getting to know right now. about a month and a half ago. or 2 months. i forgot. but our first time hanging out together i picked her up at 11 pm almost midnight and we ended up coming back home at 7 in the morning. guess what we did. we drove 2 hours to hollywood and universal city. tried to find that hollywood sign. ended up going back to long beach to walk the pike and explore the famous haunted queen mary ship wreck at 3 in the morning. and chilled and talked at signal hill, a beautiful high view sight seeing place. see all the lights and cities out there. anyways. the reason why it reminds me of that is bcuz throughout the whole night this is the only song i didnt get sick of off of the radio. and cant u call that adventure we had a teenage dream? i call it a perfect one. talking about "lets go all the way tonight, no regrets, just love." "lets runaway and dont ever look back." doesnt that remind you of driving 2 hours away and not look back. i js wanna put this up bcuz ive been feeling this the passed 2 months or so and its still there. that night was js amazing. i mean can u js imagine how that night went. "thats a fuckin teenage dream" and it didnt even have to do with sex. "be your teenage dream tonight" she got to be my teenage dream that night. and still is.

    thats whats gucci tho =]

so catchyyy(: okay just to clarify, THEYRE NOT TEENAGERS. theyre both grownups but he makes her feel like shes living a teenage dream (as in, she feels like a teenager again) and the teenage dream is to like fall in love (i guess?) and he makes her heart race and stuff. and shes not promoting teen sex. cause theyre not teenagers! besides its not like teens dont think about that stuff, cause they do

I don't think this song is promoting sex because for one Katy isn't says "Hey kids go have sex! It's fun!" She's saying that being in love with this guy makes her feel young again and that the things he does to her just reminds her of being a teenager again. Teens do things like that, I would know being 16. It's not like it's something we're just learning about, it's been that way for a long time. I really love this song and it's how I feel about my lover at the moment =] Thank you Katy for the fabulous song!

And i fogot to say what I though this song was about sorry.

I think it's Katy's idea of what she thought a normal teenage life was like, as she grew up Christian and never had this wild, sexy teenage life, and now she's met Russell Brand adn is getting married to him, she made this song to show how she's feeling and how he's giving her the teenage dream she never lived. Well that's just my opinion anyways

Ok, I'm a sixteen year old girl and don't usually like listening to pop, but I really love this song. It has never once crossed my mind after listening to this to go out and have sex with the first person I fall in love with, because I'm smarter than that and I know the consequences. Teenagers these days aren't that stupid to think 'Oh, thanks Katy, I'll go and wreck my life now thanks to this song! YAAAYYYY'. Seriously? And if you're going to argue that younger audiences will hear it and think that at age 11 etc.. you're wrong. My little cousin is eleven and when she heard the song, I asked her what she thought about the line 'Let's go all the way tonight' and she though it was about literally going somewhere. Some teens are smart and some are naiive. I notice no-one even honed in on the line 'Let's run away and don't ever look back'. That could in (most of) your eyes be encouragment to run away and leave home, but you all concentrate on sex. Well done. Why can't we just enjoy a song these days without it having to have a life-wrecking message apparently hidden in it? And sorry about the length of this (air quotes-rant) people, some of you didn't deserve to read this :) And now the haters....

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
