Everything is beautiful
Cotton fields, the open road
Your radio plays a song
We both know, we don't sing along

La la la la la la
These little lies
La la la la la la
These little lies
These little lies

Words can be daffodils
Or a fire in an open field
I'm sitting here in the ash
Stupid words, I can't take back

La la la la la la
These little lies
La la la la la la
These little lies
These little lies

There's a devil on my shoulder, babe
And I believe too many things he says
I'm fighting these fears as I find the truth
And I'm sorry for hurting you

La la la la la la
These little lies
La la la la la la
These little lies

    My Interpretation

ahhhhh i am so madly in love with this song. at first i didn't quite understand it, but after listening to it a few times more, i think i figured it out. it's pretty self explanatory when you think about it... which is sort of contradicting, hahaha.

anywho, my interpretation is that it's about this guy who wanted to protect his girlfriend, but in doing so, he lied, thinking it would protect her. they sit in the car in silence because of this, passing all this beauty that they can't even comprehend because of their broken relationship. he wishes he could take it all back. he's sorry for hurting her and he knows he shouldn't have listened to the voice in his head because it was wrong, but he knows he can't take it back. in the beginning, it mentions a song they both know but don't sing along with--that tells me that they're amidst a disquietude.

it's a pretty sad song but it is so beautiful.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
