Gives me the impression that it is about talking about your issues and what is making you sad, that is share your burden. We all have them and there is a need to let others know them ... it could help you, or perhaps the flipside is that by telling me your pains then you must listen to mine?
I think this is about how important it is to have someone you can truly trust with your pains and fears, and the character here wants his loved one to trust him, even though he knows it can be difficult
