What kind of man lays his hands on the women he loves?
Calls he angel, but shows no remorse in her blood
He covers her body in bruises and scars
You don't understand just how beautiful you are

You are too beautiful
Your heart wants something more
Those shades of blue on that face of yours
Hides that smile that beats in your chest

When he's done with her beating
He just stands aside
Wipes the sweat from his brow
And yells over her cries
"You don't know what I've been through!"
He yells and he says
"You don't know what I've done for you!"
And hits her again

You are too beautiful
Your heart wants something more
Those shades of blue on that face of yours
Hides that smile that beats in your chest

She stands in the mirror
She looks less alive
She lifts up her shirt to see she has five
Branded fingers on her side
She's feeling it all now
But she doesn't cry
She doesn't cry

You are too beautiful
Your heart wants something more
Those shades of blue on that face of yours
Hides that smile that beats in your chest

This song is so powerful. The second verse where the guy yells is so emotionally powerful. The way the scene is described brings a very vivid image. Amazing work by rachel and trevor. again.

I think this song is about a father hitting his daughter. I dunno. I think people think this is about an abused girlfriend. But no, I think this is about a father who hits her daughter. Why did I say so?

    "He calls her 'angel'."

I know 'angel' COULD be a term of endearment for your girlfriend but if you think about it, fathers are usually the ones who use it as a term to address their beloved daughters. Besides, the whole stanza:

"When he's done with her beating He just stands aside Wipes the sweat from his brow And yells over her cries "You don't know what I've been through!" He yells and he says "You don't know what I've done for you!" And hits her again"

This stanza reveals that the guy is somebody who did something for the girl. If it's a boyfriend, I don't think that fits these lines. But a father? A father who worked hard for her daughter probably, earned so that her daughter could eat, have shelter, etc...

So i really think, the guy here is a father.

As for the reason why he hits her daughter... I really don't know why...:(

But I'm having this theory that probably, the daughter was autistic, or somebody with a mental incapability.

The lines: "She's feeling it all now But she doesn't cry She doesn't cry" tells it so.

What normal human being wouldn't cry after a strong beating? It could be possible that that person has already been numbed by the pain. But I really think it is an girl with autism because as I've learned, these children with autism are people who have really low levels of E.Q (emotional quotient) they are kinda...cold..or to put it bluntly, they have no emotions (almost).

    Besides, the chorus itself:

"You are too beautiful Your heart wants something more Those shades of blue on that face of yours Hides that smile that beats in your chest"

tells of a frustrated father that wants his daughter to smile..to feel..show her true emotions even if she couldn't...

    :(

I dunno. This is how I viewed the song after continuous exposure to it. Feel free to reply. But please don't attack me. :( I'm just expressing my opinion on this song. If ever I offended you or someone with my opinion... I honestly did not mean that.. I am sorry. :(

This song makes me cry just about every time I listen to it! I never understood why someone would stay with someone that was abusive. Now, I understand. Somehow, you still have hope they'll change. You never know how deep your in it until you get out of the situation.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
