"you are never alone" as written by and Vic Chesnutt....
She got me to stop drinking and for that I'm thankful
She almost pulled off, pulling me through
And she got me standing upright
Even had me coming home nights
But she never got me over you

She almost had me where you have me
She almost did what you still do
She got me thinking straight again
But I don't think she understands
She never got me over you

She almost had me where you have me
She almost did what you still do
She got me thinking straight again
But I don't think she understands
She never got me over you
She never got me over you

General CommentI just found this guy today. I'm no expert. He had a strong cult following. I like his work and this song. I think he's being sarcastic when he says you are never alone. He's talking about us lucky folks who can afford the ordinary miracles of medicine that get so many out of trouble. The people he probably envied. He died because he couldn't get insurance because of his condition, which was partial paralysis and complications. He probably felt very alone. He had lots of friends and fans but not enough money for his astronomical medical bills.
