Another day, another day
I decide to waste way
And contemplate how everything
Has changed
And though we tried
Not to compromise what burns inside
Your complex mind
That changes everyday

These deep breaths repeating
(My heart stops its beating)
And I don't know why
These deep breaths repeating
(My heart stops its beating)
The sun has yet to set
And you've already said goodnight

Emily, please, theres nothing wrong with
The way I light up
When you're around
Do anything you want but don't leave me out
Emily please, just get closer to me

A month went by, a month that I
Cant describe, a month I've been trying to push aside
And forget in time
And now we're inches away but
We're miles apart, so I'll dream of the day
And how we felt from the start
But dreams don't come easy these days
And the colors, they fade into gray

These deep breaths repeating
(My heart stops its beating)
Shes so determined to start a fight
These deep breaths repeating
(My heart stops its beating)
The sun has yet to set
And you're not here to say goodnight

Emily, please, theres nothing wrong with
The way I light up
When you're around
Do anything you want but don't leave me out
Emily come on, this was going somewhere
I wont let go of what we had
'Cause I'm the broken record that keeps on skipping back
And I still miss her

And I never thought that you'd leave me here all on my own
And I never thought that you'd be willing to take away my home
'Cause theres no one to call and
I'm so sick of being all alone
Miserably loving you

Emily, please, theres nothing wrong with
The way I light up
When you're around
Do anything you want but don't leave me out
Emily, please, theres nothing wrong with
The way I light up
When you're around
Do anything you want but don't leave me out

Emily come on, this was going somewhere
I wont let go of what we had
'Cause I'm the broken record that keeps on skipping back
Emily please, just get closer to me.

"And now we are inches away, but we're miles apart, So I'll dream of the day and how we felt at the start."

I think this song is about a fading relationship. She doesnt feel the way she once did and it's killing him. They're so close but he feels so far away from her.

    It's an amazing song!

I think it goes: "these deep breaths repeating- my heart stops its beating."--- as opposed to "these depressed repeatings".... I think? Thoughts?

I'm almost certain that the ____ is, "And though we tried." And it's "deep breaths repeating," not depressed repeatings, for sure. Depressed repeatings doesn't make ANY sense.

    My Interpretation

"Everything has changed. And though we tried, not to compromise what burns inside, Your complex mind that changes everyday."

I think he's saying that she over thinks a lot of and everything's changing because of it.

"The sun has yet to set and you've already said good night."

She's in a hurry to leave. When he talks about Emily, he's trying o convince her that there's nothing wrong with the way he feels about her and they're good together.

"A month went by, a month that I can't describe, A month I've been trying to push aside and forget in time. And now we are inches away, but we're miles apart, So I'll dream of the day and how we felt at the start. But dreams don't come easy these days, And the colors, they fade into grays. "

I think he's saying that for about a month, things have been falling apart and though he's trying to pretend that everything's how it used to be, it's obviously not and even when they're physically close there's still a distance between them. He continues to think about how they both felt at the start of the relationship and desperately wishes that things could still be that way.

"Emily, c'mon, this was going somewhere, I won't let go of what we had"

Here he's saying that their relationship was going somewhere and despite their current problems, he doesn't wan to let go of what they had. The rest of the song is about how he never thought she'd stop loving him and he never thought she'd just leave but she did and he still loves her so much that it hurts.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
