It's coming down, babe
Could be as bad as they talked about
It's coming down, babe
Could be before we can make it out

But when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, all is not lost
But when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, no all is not lost at all

They could be right about it
They could be right in some crazy way
Cause if they yell fire, well that's what we get
Yeah they yell fire, and that's what we get
So, yeah it's coming babe
Probably bad as they talked about
But just remember: when the tide rolls in
It can't be too long until it rolls back out

And when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, all is not lost
And when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, no all is not lost at all

And if they burn
If they burn this place down to the ground
What does it matter?
What does it matter?

Cause when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, all is not lost
And when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, no, all is not lost, not lost at all
No, all is not lost, no, all is not lost at all
No, all is not lost, no, all is not lost, not lost at all

phenomenal song. without a doubt my favorite song on the album. as "MUSED" stated it can definitely relate to a relationship issue but its even deeper than that. "And when they say all is lost, all is not lost, all is not lost". fucking great line, their trying to say as long as you shut out the non believers youre on your way to getting the gold

    Song Meaning

This song is REALLY great, helping me through some tough relationship issues. Meaning? I'd say it's pretty easy to figure out. Bad times are coming, but the singer is reassuring their lover that no matter what everyone else says, everything will work out. All is not lost.

I personally believe this is the best track on the album. A very positive song. Just reminding his love that everything will be ok as long as they have each other. And just catchy in general.

    Song Meaning

It is, of course, partly a relational song; all of OK Go's songs are. That said, it also contains quite a lot of obvious commentary about Global Warming. "It's coming down" refers to the warmth from the sun, "Could be as bad as they talked about" refers to the doom-and-gloom prophecies of Global Warming zealots, and "Could be before we can make it out" is clearly a reference to the apparent need to escape Earth's trap and settle on other planets. In a purely relational context, these lines don't make the slightest sense, which is why this second meaning must be introduced.

Then cue more fire-and-water imagery, reinforcing the symbolism. I don't think I need to clarify how tides and fire relate to global warming. Finish with an uplifting "all is not lost" — in other words, Damian is saying that despite all of these prophecies of destruction and doom, and despite all of the things we may or may not have done to our environment, it literally isn't the end of the world.

    My Opinion

I don't really listen to Indie Rock but this is great. I just saw the video on 2/18/13 and I just keep replaying it. I believe it to be better than most rap videos, and that's the truth.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
