We were sleeping 'til
You came along
With your tiny heart
You let us in the wooden house
To share in all the wealth
Don't you know it's true, oh
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Seven figures leap the hungry mouths
The beast, he comes to you
He's a hunter for a lonely heart
In the season of the sun
Don't you know it's true
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Where you thinking that you gotta run to now
With the beating of a tiny heart?
Hang on to the things that you're supposed to say
Millions of stars they hold onto your breath
Norway ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
You came along
With your tiny heart
You let us in the wooden house
To share in all the wealth
Don't you know it's true, oh
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Seven figures leap the hungry mouths
The beast, he comes to you
He's a hunter for a lonely heart
In the season of the sun
Don't you know it's true
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Where you thinking that you gotta run to now
With the beating of a tiny heart?
Hang on to the things that you're supposed to say
Millions of stars they hold onto your breath
Norway ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Norway ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay

I interpret this song being about addiction. I'm currently battling an addiction to heroin, and I can completely relate to this song. The Beast he comes to you, he's a hunter for a lonely heart in the season of the sun. That verse still makes me tear up everytime, since this addiction, this disease, this devil, this beast, has found it's way to my lonely heart.
I'm sure this song isn't about heroin addiction, but the fact that I can strongly relate to it is enough for me.
Plus, that strung out guitar during the verses? Bending up and down in pitch?
This is a very powerful song. It will stay with me forever.
When I first heard the song I'd thought the lyrics of the chorus were 'No way' instead of 'Norway' which leads me to this interpretation of the song...
There's an affair theme going throughout the album and the song before this 'Silver Soul' is about falling in love and stuff and in this song, I think the girl has found out she is pregnant, hence 'You came along with your tiny heart'. But when she informs the guy, or her partner of this news, 'Don't you know it's true?' he responds with 'No way' and if you imagine a really dramatised slow motioned image of someone saying that like, 'Noooooooo way' it can sound like 'Norway'. As Victoria Legrand has said "I’m very intrigued by words and how words change shape."
So this reaction of his sort of demonstrates that they're not ready for a relationship, like now if they had a child everything would be like set in stone and serious and that's why the last verse is like "Where you thinking that you gotta run to now/ With the beating of a tiny heart?"
And after this event the affair isn't the same anymore.... that's why the next song on the album, 'Walk in the Park' is about getting over a break up?
and "don't you know it's true"
I love it though.
As far as the meaning goes, I believe it's about a girl who is very trusting of others when looking for love. The tiny heart makes it easier to take and this girl is willing to hand it over quickly because they want a relationship so bad. However, this leads to giving your heart to the wrong person. The song says "Seven figures leap the hungry mouths" which to me refers to yearly income. So a rich guy is trying to use his power to use lonely willing women. In the end the song asks "Where you thinking that you gotta run to now with the beating of a tiny heart?" This person has fallen victim to a man who will do whatever it takes for cheap sex while she clings to false love.
I love the last line "Millions of stars, they hold onto your breath." She says the right things, maybe even to reject the guy who wants her, but in the end her words fall short and like stars they become old and a former shell. It doesn't matter what you said because it might as well have never been said at all.
