with every sweet hello
there's a bitter good bye
with every happy song
there's the one to make you cry
with every traveled road
there's a curse that wont die
I know you're not the only one
You're the only one with a knife

CHORUS
Still you sing "here's one
here's one for the valley
here's one for your family"
there's never one for me
Still you sing "here's one
here's one for the tree
where your heart is buried"
there's never one for me
there's never one for me

The longing the alone
with a fall from a height
and now you've come and gone
must the whole of europe die
we know that you inherit light
but for who does it shine
oh 'cause now I've lost the right
to consider you mine

CHORUS
Still you sing "here's one
here's one for the valley
here's one for your family"
there's never one for me
and here I'm left to sing
oh you kissed so damn easy
did you show it just to tease me
the sweetest treachery
there's never one for me
there's never one for me

    My Interpretation

The song is about the loss of a loved one. It is not death but the loss of his presence. "with every sweet hello there's a bitter good bye with every happy song there's the one to make you cry"

With every beginning of a relationship there's the end. Where was hapinness now is sorrow.

"I know you're not the only one You're the only one with a knife"

The bottom line is, insults only hurt when they come from someone I respect. ~ Kresley cole. And that's te meaning of that line. The ones he loves are the only ones that can hurt him and that's why s/he's the only one with a knige

"The longing the alone with a fall from a height"

The loss makes him want to go from the top of his feelings to being alone.

"we know that you inherit light but for who does it shine"

S/he has the ability to make him happy but if not for him, whom does S/he.

"oh 'cause now I've lost the right to consider you mine"

Loss of his presence. end of relationship/friendship.

And here's the best part that makes us believe it could be a GF or a young friend:

"oh you kissed so damn easy did you show it just to tease me the sweetest treachery "

This is my interpretation, I could say it was a gf but i'd be mistaken I think Scott wanted it to be vague so it can apply for any loss.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
