Young and full of runnin'
Tell me where's that takin' me?
Just a great figure eight or a tiny infinity

Love is really nothin'
But a dream that keeps wakin' me
For all of my tryin'
We still end up dyin'
How can it be?

Don't say a word, just come over and lie here with me
'Cause I'm just about to set fire to everythin' I see
I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe
There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me

So young and full of runnin', all the way to the edge of desire
Steady my breathing, silently screaming
"I have to have you now"
Wired and I'm tired
Think I'll sleep in my clothes on the floor
Maybe this mattress will spin on its axis and find me on yours

Don't say a word, just come over and lie here with me
'Cause I'm just about to set fire to everythin' I see
I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe
There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me

Don't say a word, just come over and lie here with me
'Cause I'm just about to set fire to everythin' I see
I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe
There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me

*most of what I've read before this seems really off to me** Look, this song is not about your girlfriend/boyfriend of 3 months. This song is all about losing that one person who touched your heart in a way nobody else has. When you lose a love that strong it hurts beyond anything else in the world. To me, this song is all about love, fear, and pride. He wants to be with this person more than anything else in the world but time has created separation and they now have their own lives...i get the distinct sense that there is something standing in the way...an argument, something that happened, maybe someone lied about something or whatever it is, his armor is on but this song is his true feeling deep down in his heart pouring out. Best way to explain is below line by line:

Young and full of running Tell me where's that taking me? Just a great figure 8 or a tiny infinity

**this was explained well above, hes saying i've tried to run away from this and move on but I can't..nobody else makes me feel the way you do and I am scared of the future..what if I never find that same feeling again?***

Love is really nothing But a dream that keeps waking me For all of my trying You still end up dying How can it be?

frustration with this endless battle....he can put all the armor on he wants and try to move on but when all distractions are out of the way he can't sleep because he's missing what he truly thinks/fears is his other half

Don't say a word, just come over and lie here with me 'Cause I'm just about to set fire to everything I see I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me

this part is incredible...so much feeling. This is the cry deep within his heart begging her to just come over and let everything that happened die if only for a few moments so that they can just lay together and be whole again. His frustration and even anger with what happened is too much to bear all the time. The last 2 lines are really key. "I'll go back on the things I believe" I think this is really his way of saying I love you so much I'll throw away my pride and everything else in the world if i can just hold you then nothing else matters. This to me is the core of the song....loving someone more than yourself or anything else is that kind of love that truly breaks your heart. "Im scared you'll forget about me" he's saying he can't get over her and he's terrified at the idea of her moving on and living her own life being happy...basically he thinks about her so much that it would wreck his heart if she didn't think about him that way at all

So young and full of running, all the way to the edge of desire Steady my breathing, silently screaming, "I have to have you now" Wired and I'm tired Think I'll sleep in my clothes on the floor Maybe this mattress will spin on its axis and find me on yours steady my breathing, silently screaming...he's struggling trying to move on and be ok but inside he's dieing. Maybe this mattress will spin on its axis and find me on yours....i think this is his way of expressing his wish that he could go back through time and be in her bed cuddling and feel whole again

The "figure eight" "tiny infinity" is basically his way of saying I have tried to live without you and move on like everyone told me to but as hard as i try when all the lights shut off and I am in bed all I can think about is you.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
