A little bit of pain
Never killed no one
A little loneliness
Never hurt no one
I'm standing on the realm of insanity
Getting ready to jump
The things that I have done
My sins and my regrets
My hunger to be affirmed
I have looked for it in different men and I've failed to find
I've turned a deaf ear and I have chosen to be blind

And it's not easy
It never will be easy
For a woman to claim her place in this world
And I don't want easy
I wanna fight and let it kill me
I am ready to claim my place in this world

And time has her ways of being ruthlessly honest
She spares no one
The signs have all been there
Waiting to be seen
In every bruise and tare
The moment is now at hand
For me to forgive myself
For ever doubting my strength
I have looked for it in different men
And I have failed to find
I have turned a deaf ear
And I have chosen to be blind

It's not easy
It never will be easy
For a woman to claim her place in this world
And I don't want easy
I wanna fight and have it kill me
I am ready to claim my place in this world

A little happiness
Never killed no one
A little peace of mind
Never killed no one

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
