A Warning to the people,
The Good and the Evil
This Is War
To the Soldier, The Civillian, The Martyr, The Victim
This is War
Its the moment of truth and the moment to lie
The moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight
To the right To the left we will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth, It's a Brave New World from the last to the first
To the right, To the left, We will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth, it's a Brave New World it's a Brave New World it's a Brave New World
A warning to the prophet, the liar, the honest
This is War
To the leader, the pariah, the victim, the messiah
This is war
Its the moment of truth and the moment to lie
And the moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight
To the right, To the left, we will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth, It's a Brave New World from the last to the first
To the right, To the left, We will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth it's a Brave New World, it's a Brave New World, It's A Brave New World

I do believe in the light, raise your hands up to the sky
The fight is done, the war is won, lift your hands toward the sun
toward the sun, toward the sun, the war is won
fight fight fight fight fight (choir)
To the right, To the left, we will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth, It's a Brave New World from the last to the first
To the right, To the left, We will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth it's a Brave New World it's a Brave New World It's A Brave New World
A Brave New World
The war is won,
the war is won,
a brave new world

I believe in nothing not the end and not the start
I believe in nothing not the earth and not the stars
I believe in nothing not the day or not the dark
I believe in nothing not but the beating of our hearts
I believe in nothing not 100 suns until we part
I believe in nothing not not in sin and not in God
I believe in nothing not not in peace and not in war
I believe in nothing not but the truth in who we are

    General Comment

This could have 2 differrent meanings in my opinion. It could be talking about having a war coming to those who oppress the weak (not necessarily religious but could be). I don't think it actually means the prophet, pariah, masiah etc. I think it is more to the people that immitate them to the so called world leaders and that their reign as a pretence will come to an end 'it's a brave new world'. I reckon the essence of it is the people of the world coming together eventually against those who oppress under the pretence of these titles. People will do anything for this new world, everyone has the power within them. This song is empowering to people and the and are acting as a leader for us to fight oppression now that people have conquered the inner fight. The last stanza(i call it this because his songs are more like poems), is a little confusing but it could be telling us what he personally believes because they did say in an interview that they are making this album a little more personal for them, although this is confusing as well because Jared wears a cross around his neck so i don't think that his words are that literal.

These are all my own opinion feel free to comment and say what you think as well, its always good to hear another's opinion. :D Hope I helped clear it up a bit more or maybe confused you :P :D

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
