This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

i believe this song is a subliminal message to Andrew Stockdale's old bandmates . and i pray that they hear it and understand . so maybe someday they will return to Wolfmother and make it the band it was meant to be . i mean, dont get me wrong, the new Wolfmother is incredible . but the old Wolfmother had something special that can't be outdone by a different set of people . if any of you are reading this, please come back . when you work together musically you have such a powerful and creative connection that it's nearly impossible to top it or recreate it
This song is so catchy and I love the beat, the chorus... yeah everything. I'm not really sure what it's about but what @drummer9309 said sounds very convincing.
Inspiring. To quote Bill Hicks, "Infinite love is the only truth, everything else is only illusion." The song is vague enough that you could make it out to be about just about anything; relationships, subliminal messages to bandmates, or just his audience; or even that the entire universe is taking place only in his mind, and his realization is that love will live on forever. Whatever the case may be, love is the theme, and the most powerful human emotion - or at least, the most powerful I've ever felt.
