Groundhog Lyrics

I'm a groundhog lookin for a hole
I'm a dog who's gone astray
I get the blues all morning
And morning's my best time of the day
Stanley Dancer's got my money
For a horse that would not win
For a poor boy from an orphan's home
Who's lived his life in sin
Oh could my lifeline touch my loyalties
Open your heart and let me stay
I get the blues all morning,
And morning's my best time of the day
Morning is my best time of the day
Morning is my best time of the day
I'm a groundhog lookin for a hole
I'm a dog who's gone astray
I get the blues all morning,
And morning's my best time of the day

Cover art for Groundhog lyrics by Simon and Garfunkel

This is one of the best unreleased demos I've heard by ANYONE... to me, the song just means being in a time in your life where you don't feel quite at home or comfortable no matter where you are, and you can't shake that feeling or the blues that come with it. If anyone is wondering who Stanley Dancer is, he was the only horseman to drive and train three Triple Crowns in horse racing. In total, he drove 23 Triple Crown winners.
