Think of me when you're out, when you're out there
I'll beg you nice from my knees
And when the world treats you way too fairly
Well, it's a shame I'm a dream

All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you

I think I'll pace my apartment a few times
And fall asleep on the couch
And wake up early to black-and-white reruns
That escaped from my mouth (oh, oh)

All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you

I could follow you to the beginning
Just to relive the start
And maybe then we'd remember to slow down
At all of our favorite parts

All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you
All I wanted was you

    it's about josh.

"I think I'll pace my apartment a few times And fall asleep on the couch And wake up early to black and white reruns That escape from my mouth"

in the AP article, she mentioned how lonely she was and how she'd be up all night, just talking to fans because there was no one else around for her.

"I could follow you to the beginning Just to relive the start Maybe then we'd remember to slow down At all of our favorite parts"

it sounds to me that she wants to go back into the past and relive every moment she had when she was with him, taking nothing for granted and making the best of her favorite times with him.

it's a beautiful song, and you can tell that she still cares for him a lot. brings me to tears every time.

    My Opinion

I notice some odd influences in this song... Riffs in the style of The Receiving End Of Sirens? Guitar ambience and crescendo crash in the style of Explosions in the Sky? Mogwai/Mew-esque chord progressions? Looks like Paramore are embracing the Post- genres of Rock in and interesting way that retains the perfect Paramore cadence. This really does set their sound above Riot!'s quite considerably...

P.S. Hayley has some amazing pipes on her! Seriously, I knew she could sing.. but I didn't know she could belt it out like that... "All I wanted was yooooUUUUUUU!" O.M.G.

I hope this song is on the set list!!!

Josh. For sure. "The Only Exception" is about Chad.

But yeah, I'm thinking Josh since it's always referring to the past, like... "I could follow you to the beginning Just to relive the start Maybe then we'd remember to slow down At all of our favorite parts"

I think it's saying, in a way, that she still has feelings for him (I'm probably gonna get massacred on here for saying that), but that's just the message I got from listening to it. Others might have interpreted it differently.

To me, it's kind of the whole "I love you, but I can't" thing.

This has come to be my favorite song on their new cd. It is incredible. How Hayley can hit those notes.. I have no idea but it gives me chills all throughout my body every time she does. Every hair on my body stands. It's funny how much this song explains my so called love life.. or what it used to be anyway.

Another thing I wanted to add. The line when she sings "Well, it's a shame I'm a dream". I find this to be really interesting and relatable to so many people. Like this person was everything and you were everything to them and now that they've probably moved on, everything that you once had with this person is a "dream"...almost like it never happened. So sad.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
