Let go, the weight is building and we never knew
We never thought this could happen.

Forget, even if it seems hopeless to live without
Better things are on the horizon, holding on just holds you back

As time slips further away,
There's no returning what I've lost.
Instead of trying to get back the past,
We must look for new hopes.

This time, I'm in over my head, but my visions clear, so let's just stop here
My fight is over I see things as they really are
Not peerless perfection, but scars and all.

Let go, the weight is building and we never knew
We never thought this could happen.

As time slips further away,
There's no returning what I've lost.
Instead of trying to get back the past,
We must look for new hopes.

Oh here it comes, I'm ready for the curtains to close
It's not my last scene just the end of this act
My fight is over I see the truth
Today I gave up breathing, today I lived!

I took the air for granted,
Cold dark fingers
A trespasser in my throat.
My lungs surrender their last breath
I am sinking, but it feels safe.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
