Wheels Lyrics
We were going down
i could feel us sinking
then i came around
flashed before my eyes
and nothing mattered anymore
i looked into the sky
i wished for something new
well i wanted something beautiful
i wished to something true
ain't looking for a reason man
something to lose
(when the wheels come down)
when the wheels touch ground
(when the wheels touch ground)
and you feel like its all over
here's another round for you
when the wheels come down
(when the wheels come down)
broken hearts will mend
this is our beginning
coming to an end
you wished for something new
well you wanted something beautiful
wished to something true
been looking for a reason man
something to lose
(when the wheels come down)
when the wheels touch ground
(when the wheels touch ground)
and you feel like its all over
here's another round f
or you
when the wheels come down
(when the wheels come down)
(when the wheels come down)
when the wheels touch ground
(when the wheels touch ground)
and you feel like its all over
here's another round for you
when the wheels come down
(when the wheels come down)
(when the wheels come down)
when the wheels touch ground
(when the wheels touch ground)
and you feel like its all over
here's another round for you
when the wheels come down
(when the wheels come down)
I was in an accident two weeks ago. I got hit by a car and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. While I was super lucky that the injuries weren't serious (just a broken left leg), at the time I thought my skull was broken as I slammed my forehead on the concrete and I couldn't think straight. I was taken away on the stretcher. When we arrived at the hospital and the paramedics were taking me out of the ambulance, one of them said "here we go, wheels are comin down" and thats when this song immediately came to mind.
To me this song means when you think you've been dragged down to the lowest point in your life, whether it may be emotional or physical, life itself allows you to move on for another chance. I love this song.
I loved the way you explained this, it was super well done! Glad your alright!

this song reminds me alot of tom petty's "learn to fly"
Learning to Fly is my favorite song of all time. Mantank good call on that. Now for some of these Foo Fighter bashers, it was said in Rollingstone that went Dave wrote this song, he was inspired by Tom Petty. When your musically gifted there is no such thing as "one sound" a lota these bands have heros to so for fun I think they like to switch up the vibe and not let people "generalize them." I think its a great song and good insight!

@mantank i think you nailed it here down to the bone. The structure is so similar as well including the short solo part.

Long live both the Foos and Tom ✟

I think i got the lyrics all correct. If not lemme know
As Dave said, it's about when the wheels touch the ground and you're like oh god i'm glad that's over with.
Pretty good song, nice solid rock tune from the Foos, can't wait for more!
Amazing song...yet rather confusing. What I get from it: its like when you are having a really hard time with something at some point in your life. It sounds here like the ending of his relationship? "Wished for something new," "Wished for something true." You conquer your struggle because the wheels come down, its over. But "here's another round for you." Like God is always planning a new challenge and struggle to shape your life and make you who you are. Once one problem is over, you'll get another one. It's what life is unfortunatly. That's just my point of view :)
i had this idea about this song...it could be a stretch but it seems to fit "Well I wanted something better man, wished for something new" Dave Grohl himself said he didnt think much of the first album, didnt put much effort into it, so he wanted to make a better one "Well I wanted something beautiful, wished for something true" wanted an album that was beautiful and true, or a beautiful "Colour" and a true "Shape" "Been looking for a reason man, something to lose" hes looking for something to lose, but...There is Nothing Left to Lose... "When the wheels come down" the wheels have come down, they've finally landed, and they're cruising as a band. they've made it. "And you feel like it's all over, there's another round for you" people keep thinking they cant come up with another good album, but they always do... i know its a stretch but i thought it strangely makes sense
This song is just awesome!!! It has a great tune and the lyrics are great. I love the Foo Fighters.
the main meaning of the song to me is relief. think about flying a plane for the first time and having to land. when the wheels come down, the relief you'd feel must be enormous! but at the same time, you still have to slow down to a stop ("and you feel like its all over/heres another round for you").
it could also be talking about settling down from the rock star lifestyle. maybe this is the foos last? i hope not. dave is amazing!
Gablelove is being harsh. This song is kinda awing in a way. But that's besides the point. I can see his Nirvana roots in this song, like how Kurt Cobain influenced him..... Verse Chorus Verse Chorus Solo Chorus Chorus.....
Just thought I'd put that out there......
Most of the artist make they good-man-song one day (Take Nickelback for example - "If Today Was Your Last Day). And now it's time for dave to write is own one.
I Believe that this is about some kind of dramatic hope that you see often in music.
In the beginnig he kinda regrets and grows up, then say like - my eyes are open now. Afterwards he suggests you (and me) - just keep on keepin' on and "Broken hearts will mend" automaticly. Just be agood boy.
I think this song is GREAT!!!! but just for a while...
All this song really means, at least what it seems to me, is that he's just looking for a reason to be doing what he's doin. Makin millions, writing songs, living life. He wants something so valuable, so beautiful, most likely love. He want's something to strive for, cause after making all this money, he realizes fame and stardom isnt everything unless you have someone to share it with.
