O what if I never wanna be sober?
So what if I wanna be numb all the time?
I can't justify why I'd wanna go slower
Taking my time just ain't my style, yeah

I walk dead or alive
I waste my time whenever I like
I'm feelin ok with my whiskey hangover

So what you cleaned your act up so far
So what if I'm pissing into the wind (again)?
Have you ever thought that I'm not who you are? (baby)
'cause even when I lose I know how to win again and again
So sick of you preaching all the time
Just keep your shitty advice inside

'cause I walk dead or alive
I waste my time whenever I like
I'm feelin ok with my whiskey hangover
Oh yeah yeah
'cause I walk dead or alive
I waste my time whenever I like
I'm feelin ok with my whiskey hangover
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!!
Lets go!

One sip ain't gunna do shit
On the 2nd sip I begin to admit
That the 3rd one down is what makes me feel alright
And number 4 I slam down to the floor
By 5 I'm ready to fight all night
And then 6, 7, 8 to make me break your face sometimes

'cause I walk dead or alive
I waste my time whenever I like
I'm feelin ok with my whiskey hangover
Oh yeah yeah
'cause I walk dead or alive
I waste my time whenever I like
I'm feelin ok with my whiskey hangover
With my whiskey hangover
With my whiskey hangover
With my whiskey hangover
With my whiskey hangover
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah...

When I first heard this song it hit home to me. I'm a drinker and I fucking hate people who quit drinking and then preach. (ex. JAMES PUSSY HETFIELD ). This song is about being able to drink if you want to. If you have a problem with me drinking then please go fuck yourself. IMO!

First comment yeah!!! it sounds to me like its about somebody who is drunk all the time, and is tired of people telling him to sober up.

Lyrics are dead on. Great song by godsmack, good to see they are still going strong.

I gotta tell ya, as an alcoholic (and a DAMNED proud one at that) . . . I really like this song. It kinda reminds me of how much I enjoy being me (that is to say, a drinker).

This song is pretty weak by Godsmack's standards. I know they've never been a band who played complex stuff, but this song is much simpler than their past material. The lyrics also sound like they were written in 2 minutes, they're kinda embarassing to be honest.

I like Godsmack and I want their next album to be great, but if it's anything like this song, I'm afraid they've decided to go down the Puddle Of Mudd or Hinder route

I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!!! Yes, it is a simple song, but its really good.I don't drink much( because i am under age, it sucks)so i cant fully relate to this song. But, it kinda reminds me of when I'm in school. I sit around and waste my time. "I waste my time whenever i like". That's what i always wanted to say to the teachers. And also "just keep you shitty advice inside". I also like that because the teachers are always telling me i shouldn't waste me time and stupid shit like that. Yes, i know its about drinking, but im just saying that is how I relate to this song.It really reminds me of how im always saying the teachers dont have control over me, they think they can boss me around. Anyways, Kickass song and one of the best Metal bands today!!! ROCK ON GODSMACK!!!

    My Opinion

Sully has stated that he writes everything from his experiences. This song to me is about DENIAL and REBELLION. Sully may be a hard drinker (doubt it, based on his religious leanings) or maybe just gets hammered every once in awhile and someone evidentially is worried about him, based on their own experience. Or, on the flip-side he is writing about someone he has encountered that basically said these words to him. Or: it is a mash up of the two. (I really like the “laugh” after “so what you’ve cleaned your act up so far”: AWESOME use of the Sully laugh!!! …I mean everyone slips up, so the laugh is PERFECT!)

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
