We're always off and on
Don't tell me I'm wrong
I'm only making and breaking
The ties that did not belong in the first place
But in your case
Really you should brace yourself
And trace your steps
Back to the time we thought that
Hanging on sidewalks would never be second best
But we would find out soon that
We were never as good as the rest.
So I said

Is this what you wanted?
A friend less motivated
Tell me this is what you wanted
A friendless situation.
Is this what you wanted?
A friend less motivated
Tell me this is what you wanted
A friendless situation.
Because who needs enemies
When you've got friends like these

If you think were staying strong
You're totally wrong
If you were worth all the worship
I wouldn't write you this song in the first place
Heres a small taste
Of all the things you've brought upon
Yourself because of the
Way you think the
Entire world is out to get you
So try to remember that we
Could never compare to the rest. So I Said

Is this what you wanted?
A friend less motivated
Tell me this is what you wanted
A friendless situation.
Is this what you wanted?
A friend less motivated
Tell me this is what you wanted
A friendless situation.
Because who needs enemies
When you've got friends like these

I'm just passing time
And its complicating but captivating
Every little thing you've come to trust
And its just the thing that makes us what we are.
I'm just passing time
And its complicating everything
And I'm complicating everything because of the
Way you think the
Entire world is out to get you
So try to remember that we
Could never compare to the rest. So I Said

Is this what you wanted?
A friend less motivated
Tell me this is what you wanted
A friendless situation.
Is this what you wanted?
A friend less motivated
Tell me this is what you wanted
A friendless situation.
Because who needs enemies
When you've got friends like these

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
