No walls can keep me protected
No sleep, nothing in between me and the rain
And you can't save me now
I'm in the grip of a hurricane
I'm gonna blow myself away

I'm going out
I'm gonna drink myself to death
And in the crowd
I see you with someone else
I brace myself
'Cause I know it's going to hurt
But I like to think at least things can't get any worse

No home, I don't want shelter
No calm, nothing to keep me from the storm
And you can't hold me down
'Cause I belong to the hurricane
It's gonna blow this all away

I'm going out
I'm gonna drink myself to death
And in the crowd
I see you with someone else
I brace myself
'Cause I know it's going to hurt
But I like to think at least things can't get any worse

I hope that you see me
'Cause I'm staring at you
But when you look over, you look right through
Then you lean and kiss her on the head
And I never felt so alive, and so dead

I'm going out
I'm gonna drink myself to death
And in the crowd
I see you with someone else
I brace myself
'Cause I know it's going to hurt

I'm going out, I'm going out
I'm gonna drink myself to death
And in the crowd
I see you with someone else
I brace myself
'Cause I know it's going to hurt

I'm going out, I'm going out, I'm going out
I'm going out, I'm going out, I'm going out

i saw her on may 27 at the bloomsbury ballroom, and she said that this song was "about breaking up with somebody, and then getting so depressed that you're at the point of just not caring about it, and going out and getting really drunk, and then seeing them with somebody else so it's kind of a sad song but then it's kind of a happy song because you're like 'ok well it can't get worse than this let's just get drunk' so let's just get drunk" :)

i think this song is pretty much about self harm/self destruction by means of drinking after a bad relationship. she's baisically saying she is going to drink away her problems, and she doesnt want or need help because she's 'in the grip of a hurricane'.

    It's not

"No home, I don't want shelter, No calm, Nothing to keep me from the storm, And you can't save me now, I'm in the grip of a hurricane, It's gonna blow us all away."

    It is

"No home, I don't want shelter. No calm, Nothing to keep me from the storm, and you can't HOLD ME DOWN. 'Cause I belong to the hurricane, It's gonna blow this all away."

    Memory

I just love the concept of being 'hurricane drunk' - there are plenty of times when life has become pretty unbearable for whatever reason and you just want to forget your troubles for one night, the hurricane takes you and you blast off into oblivion.

    Song Meaning

I think it's about feeling reckless. I think she's likes someone, or even loves him, and then she see's him with someone else.

"And in the crowd I see you with someone else I brace myself 'Cause I know it's going to hurt"

And I think he's never really noticed her and has no idea of the pain she's in.

"I hope that you see me 'Cause I'm staring at you But when you look over You look right through Then you lean and kiss her on the head And I never felt so alive And so dead"

And in an interview she said it's about that reckless feeling you get when you think "At least things can't get any worse" and then you go around doing whatever you want, because nothing else can hurt as bad as that.

in the second verse, you've put

"And you can't save me now, I'm in the grip of a hurricane, It's gonna blow us all away."

but it's actually "and you can't hold me down, i belong to the hurricane, it's gonna blow us all away."

i love this song. my favourite on the album.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
