You were getting tired
I was lying beside you
With your head without a pillow
I would have given you mine
But I couldn't let you go
I could tell you we're dreaming
And I know it couldn't be about me
'Cause you don't know me

And I bought a dozen flowers
Eleven were roses
And the other one was a daisy
And I was thinking about it
And giving them to you
But I thought of a way to get closer to you
So I came over and knocked on your door
But you, weren't home 'cause
You don't know how and ooh
And ooh, and ooh, and ohh
And I, and I, and I, am tired

When we walk through the park
And the autumn around us could almost numb our hands
There's something about you I can't seem to see
'Cause I've been waiting around for a moment like this
It's a moment I thought that I'0d never miss
But noticed this, 'cause I don't know you
and ooh, and ooh, and ohh
And I, and I, and I, am tired

And I don't want to say goodnight
'Cause I'm not tired like you
No, I'm not tired like you (x3)

I love This Song, To Me I Feel As If Stephen Is Showing Himself As Being A Hopeless Romantic. He Describes Himself As Being The Best Friend Figure With A Secret Love For The Girl. He Keeps Wanting To Tell Her How He Feels But Can't.

'And I bought a dozen flowers Eleven were roses And the other one was a daisy And I was thinking about it And giving them to you But I thought of a way to get closer to you So I came over and knocked on your door But you, weren't home'

And The Chorus Describes How He's Tired Of Being A Second String, Then Towards The End Of The Song I Feel Like He Discovers That He's Not Tired Of His Feelings. He Shows That He Wants Her To Be Happy.

I Have Mixed Thoughts, But Yeah.

    My Interpretation

I just kinda took it as he likes this girl he's known or a while. But she's oblivious to his feelings. And after a while, he just gets tired of having to like her and she doesn't realize it. And he realizes that they really don't know each other that well. And he stops wanting to be more than friends.

That's just what I got outta it.

I think it describes the stages that relationships go through. You feel blessed with the gift of seeing your one true love. You're not sure she's interested but then the moment happens when you realize she likes you too. As you get closer you begin to lose yourself in her but are happy and thrilled about it. But then the differences and the conflicts arise, you realize that you miss your freedom, you fight, someone has to win - it always seems to be her. The relationship is becoming more distant, you miss her and begin to reminisce. Its over, you're sad but you've learned some good lessons about love. Hallelujah stands for "I love you."

This is wrong... And the autumn around us could almost numb our hands ( could almost melt our hearts!) There's something about you I can't seem to see 'Cause I've been waiting around for a moment like this It's a moment I thought that I'0d never miss (to go home to the girl I thought I would never miss) But noticed this, 'cause I don't know you (but now it's this)

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
