nobody knows everything, we know this to be true
everything is difficult except what's in front of you
but it's complicated even under your nose
bullshit math equations, your highs and your lows

and your manic depression, it comes and it goes
your parasympathetic nervous system reacts
and you're in fight or flight mode

how's the world so small when the world is so large?
and what made the world? could i please speak to who's in charge
everything is real, but it's also just as fake
from your daughter's birthday party to your grandmother's wake

and your manic depression, it comes and it goes
your parasympathetic nervous system reacts
and you're in fight or flight
you're in fight or flight
you're in figh or flight mode

i tried to know which words to sing
so many times
and i tried to know which chord to play
i tried to make it rhyme
and i tried to find the key
that all good songs are in
and i tried to find the notes to make
that great resounding din
there's a bad man in everyone
no matter who we are
there's a rapist and a nazi
living in our tiny hearts
child pornographers and cannibals
and politicians too
there's someone in our head waiting to fucking strangle you

so here's to you, mrs. robinson
people love you more, oh nevermind
oh never mind
in-fucking-fact, mrs. robinson
the world doesn't care whether you live or die
you live or die
in-fucking-fact, mrs. robinson
they probably hate to see your stupid face
your stupid face
so here's to you, mrs. robinson
you live in an unforgiving place

whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh.

for four fortnights i have fled from
my fortress
foraging forests five footsteps in length
fortitude found within forty-ounce bottles
flowing like flies from your face
from your face
my neighborhood it's been filled brim
with black cats
and when i go driving they walk
in my path
everytime
all the time

la da da da dum, da da dum, da da dum
la de da de dum, da da dum, da da dum
laaaaaaa da dum, da da dum, da da dum ,da da dum, da da dum

first we were babies, we're birthing and dying
and then we were children, we're playing and crying
and then we're teenagers, and smoking and drinking
but now we're all grown up and we're sadly sighing
and liking, melarching and licking our wounds
we created the lusting and lying, to
ourselves
and to others

we're sadly sighing
we're sadly sighing
we're sadly sighing
we're sadly sighing

i'd like to be
a big ball of meat
that bees can buzz all around
and eat
when i die
so i might be granted some sense of purpose.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
