Do you remember our conversation about this time last year
One group of friends, we were inseparable
And I knew the time was near
I told you it would be so soon, when the crumbling would begin
It's my experience
It's coming down
It's coming down
I knew this was coming
It seems we weren't exceptions to the rule
Like we thought we might be
It seems we weren't exceptions to the rule
'Cause now it's falling (apart)
I guess anger and pain are all inclusive
They don't leave anyone out
I know your cheeks are tearstained, you don't even have to look at mine
They haven't dried
I'll see you in the winter time
'Cause now it's falling down all over us
And what we had once, will never be again
It's falling down, it's crashed and burned
And what we had once, will never be again
One group of friends, we were inseparable
And I knew the time was near
I told you it would be so soon, when the crumbling would begin
It's my experience
It's coming down
It's coming down
I knew this was coming
It seems we weren't exceptions to the rule
Like we thought we might be
It seems we weren't exceptions to the rule
'Cause now it's falling (apart)
I guess anger and pain are all inclusive
They don't leave anyone out
I know your cheeks are tearstained, you don't even have to look at mine
They haven't dried
I'll see you in the winter time
'Cause now it's falling down all over us
And what we had once, will never be again
It's falling down, it's crashed and burned
And what we had once, will never be again

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
