I string together dry words
But I just want to tell you
About the simple love I have for you
Throw the dull wind that blew threw that day
Into the ruins of yesterday

I’ll laugh with you, live for the present
But these events must be hurting you
And, for that reason, it’s goodbye

Just sharing everything, absolutely everything
With you like this
I eventually realised that that’s everything
Sadness pours down my cheeks
And becomes a river of tears
And my shaking love becomes a strong vortex
And I melt away

Irritation and just a little loneliness
What on earth made me
Feel that way?
I’m not in a TV drama now
“Hey, what’s up?”
If we turned to see where that voice was coming from
There wouldn’t be anyone there, would there?

For that reason, we’re screaming out loud

But nobody will hear us, will they?
And for that reason, it’s goodbye

And time goes by once again
And I just share it all with you
I eventually realise that that’s everything
Sadness pours down my cheeks
And becomes a single-minded song
And my shaking love becomes a strong vortex
And I melt away, melt away

Throw the dull wind that blew threw that day
Into the ruins of yesterday, oh yeah

Just sharing everything, absolutely everything
With you like this
And I eventually realise that you’re everything
Sadness pours down my cheeks
And becomes a river of tears
And it becomes a shallow sea for us
And I melt away
And I melt away
And I melt away

Eventually we realise that that’s everythinng
Eventually we learn what it’s like to have sadness pouring down our cheeks
Eventually we, eventually we
You melt away
Melt away

Goodbye, bye bye

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
