Stronger Than Jesus Lyrics
I cant believe no one has posted a comment on this yet. This song is potent on so many levels..
But the obvious meaning is that we put to much trust and emphasis on love when it really is simply an emotion. The irony of love is that even though its considered a human emotion, it consequently controls almost everything in the world. You cant completely trust love, and think that it will automatically bring you to peace and happiness. "Who told you love is the Alpha and Omega And that you're heart will lead you to the only one". because look how much damage it has done through history "Don't you know love can kill anyone Bring it on, wars and diseases".
Love can be our salvation, while simultaneously becoming our downfall "See the people heading for disaster Standing in line just looking for a little fun"
Lastly, Love is stronger than jesus because according to christian belief he died for our sins out of his love for us. But if jesus can die for love and we still do not stop killing, stealing, and decieving others and ourselves. Than love has defeated us all, even jesus, who it would seem died for nothing if we cannot pull ourselves together and find a better life.

One can also consider that love is not only a noun but also a verb. "To love" is not simply to carry the emotion of "love" but to act accordingly. You can't control your emotions but your actions. That means it's every individuals choice to choose love, sometimes without the emotion.

Love in this sense is like a two-edged sword. If you simply follow the emotion of love, it can lead you to destruction and harm. It might be about this that song this is about.

Thanks for that alternate explanation. I love it, It makes a lot of sense.. Specially " you cant control your emotions, but you can control your actions"

In this song A Camp explains how powerful love is. It's even "stronger that Jesus". Since Jesus died for love. In the same song A Camp also explains that there comes a grand fallacy with it. Love is so very powerful that we do not see all the consequences any more. In fact, love can paralyze us: "You know that love can do you like a shotgun". Love makes us blind. Love makes us see only what we want to see. "We believe there's trust in strangers, any monkey looking like a savior". And even when we are told to be wiser, and hear the experiences of the past, we cannot be strong to prevent ourselves from the future harm it will do to us and eachother. "Pay no mind to what your mama told ya".
Through out the song A Camp makes clear that Love is a great power, but makes us more slaves of our own emotions. They bring in that Love intentionally has a biological fuction: "That we bloom and breed and multiply". But Love is not what makes the world a better place. Even though we hope it would.
In my opnion A Camp does not tend to say that love is a bad thing. They simply want to put into perspective the importance of love. It's not "the Alpha and Omega".
