I really want to do just what my body wants to
I really want to do just what my body needs to
I really want to show to my girl that I want her
I really want to show to my girl that I need her

I really want to do just what my body wants to
I really want to do just what my body needs to
I really want to show to my girl that I want her (I keep it locked right now)
I really want to show to my girl that I need her (I keep it locked right now)

Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her
Need her, need her

I want to do just what my body needs to
I want to do just what my body needs to
I want to show to my girl that I need her
I want to show to my girl that I need her

So I use my mind and I use my hand
And watch what I want to
So I use my mind and I use my hand
And watch what I want to do

So I use my mind and I use my hand
And watch what I want to do
So I use my mind and I use my hand
And watch what I want to do

What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What I want to do
What

Seems pretty straightforward to me- Although he has carnal thoughts, he earnestly wants to be faithful and monogamous. Pretty evident in the line...

"If I could just purge all the urges that I have and keep them for you"

He's not above admitting that he does have urges, The title of the track says it all alluding to the "wandering eye" that people in relationships often have. Don't lie, you women have it too! I'm certain being away from your loved one (paired with the absence of physical contact) for long periods of time would add to such feelings.

I think that as the song develops he is differentiating his wants from his needs. Early he states that he wants to do what his body wants to. Yet he states later he wants to show his girl that he NEEDS her. While we may want a wide array of things, it is important to seperate that from what you need. In the end it seems to me that he came to a resolution and started using his mind and hands to do what he earnestly wanted all along....That resolution goes above and beyond physical gratification.

...or maybe he just jerked off ;)

Panda's songs (even though i think both of them sing on this one) seem to often have the words "my girl" somehwere in its lyrics. is that a sign of something... ?

Lexington hit it spot on. the title of the song says it all. he's staying monogamous despite looking through Guys Eyes.

Ok I think half of you are being shortsighted and half of you are reading WAAAAAAAAY too much into this. Lexington is definitely the closest.

I'll buy the suggestion that its written partly about being away from home. I think its pretty clearly about a guy who is looking around at other girls and acknowledging his body's urges, but mentally wants to stay true to his girl.

If you want to read too much into it, how about the fact that the music (2 overlapping themes) reflects his opposing urges?

And yes, in the end he deals with it by beatin' it.

I am almost positive this is about being away from Kira and having the urge or the option of cheating on her but he resists by using his mind and takes charge by using his hand instead. well thats the end of it the beginning is slowly losing control and fearing he might cheat, He loves and needs her far to much to do that, it is actually really sweet in a weird ass way.

I could probably go line by line but this is what i think the song is about

I absolutely love this song. I don't think its as simple as to be about "wanking" though. What I get from it is a guy who wants to tell a girl how he feels, and what he has urges to do both psychically and emotionally, but dosnt because he hides all of these emotions and feelings and keeps them "locked up" but you never really know I guess with Animal Collective. I must say though, this album is a lot more mature than a few of the other LP's in many ways. Can't wait to hear what they come up with next.

my first reaction was ... wait... is that about... omg wow... but now thinking about it more i think that spottedots is right. i dont think ac would do a song simply about masturbation - it has to have something more to it and i think the away from home thing works well

This song took a bit for me to understand, but it's definitely one of my favorite of the new album. I've been thinking about the beating it theory, and it's really funny. But I think the other guys are right... taking your hand and doing what you what could mean using your life to do what you want to do deep down. Although the masturbation could go along with the sexualism of the line "i really want to show my girl that i want her/need her"

Also, the craziness of panda bears 'sliding' vocals around 3:20 really blow me away...his voice control is amazing. I think I have a man crash.

Anyone else? Anyone? Uh... This is awkward.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
