I saw him standin' there
In the parkin' lot
He asked if I
Came here a lot
And this is how
I responded

I forgot my name
I forgot my telephone number
If he wanna see me
He don't even know it
I forgot my address
Damsel in distress
I forgot my boyfriend
Was the one who had bought me this rock

I get amnesia
When I'm standin' next to you-ou-ou
He's been with me for several years
I know this much is true
Didn't know it was over
'Till you came on over
And told me that you just, just can't
Forget about me

I talk to my girls
I can talk to my girls like crazy
To anyone, I speak my mind
I tell them mother don't phase me
I'm not lazy
But boy, lately
When I see you, I stu-utter
Watch you slip away like butterflies

I saw you standin' there
In the VIP on Friday
We conversate up in my
Fantasies like, every day
But I'm a dud
Whenever you approach
Like yesterday when you just
Came to say hello

I forgot my name
I forgot my telephone number
If he wanna see me
He don't even know it
I forgot my address
Damsel in distress
I forgot my boyfriend
Was the one who had bought me this rock

I get amnesia
When I'm standin' next to you-ou-ou
He's been with me for several years
I know this much is true
Didn't know it was over
'Till you came on over
And told me that you just, just can't
Forget about me

Me
Me
This is how I do

I talk to most guys
I can talk to most guys like crazy
To anyone, I'll speak my mind
I tell them mother don't phase me
But you shake me
Boy, you make me
St-o-o-o-op and stutter
When we touch, I melt like butter

I saw you standin' there
In the VIP on Saturday
Now that I know you got a
Thing for me, I should be straight
Not the kinda girl who'll just let
Any guy get close
I like him so I'm gon' tell my guy
He should just effin' go

I forgot my name
I forgot my telephone number
If he wanna see me
He don't even know it
I forgot my address
Damsel in distress
I forgot my boyfriend
Was the one who had bought me this rock

I get amnesia
When I'm standin' next to you-ou-ou
He's been with me for several years
I know this much is true
Didn't know it was over
'Till you came on over
And told me that you just, just can't
Forget about me

Me
Me
This is how I do

i think this song is about this woman meeting this new guy after being in a relationship that almost headed to marriage but, they broke up.

"I forgot my boyfriend was the one that had bought me this rock I get amnesia when Im standing next to yo-o-ou, He's been with me for several years, I know this much is true, Didn't know it was over, 'till you came on over,"

she's finally realizing this past relationship is over with now that she found a new guy to fall in love with. and whenever she's around him, she forgets all her problems and worries and even her phone number.

"We conversate up in my fantasies like everyday, But I'm a dud, whenever you approach, Like yesterday when you just came to say 'Hello'"

in her dreams, she's able to speak to this guy. but, in reality, she's so shy around him.

My fave song so far on Circus!! Really great album from what I've heard so far =) i agree with bananapancakes for the most part on this one. To me, its about a girl who has a boyfriend that she is still engaged to. She completely forgets about this boyfriend when thinking about the other guy in the song. She gets nervous and can't think straight whenever she is around him or even when she thinks about him. She forgets that its her boyfriend that gave her the engagement ring...instead she wishes it was this other guy. She wants to end things with her boyfriend to be with this guy instead. She didn't realize it was over and that she no longer want to be with her boyfriend until her new love interest says he can't forget about her. At this moment, she knows he feels the same as she does and wants to be with him, instead of her fiance

oops, one more thing! as far as the amnesia reference. I think she is saying: that when she is with this new guy, she forgets all about her boyfriend and the life she has with him. Everything about her life, as well because he makes her nervous and is in love with him.

    Song Meaning

My favorite song on the cd…I know I know it’s a damn bonus track. Anyway this song is pretty much about cheating and my boyfriend questions my obsession for this song ha. Shes basically saying theres this one guy that shes just so smittened with that she kinda forgets who she is (also forgets her boyfriend). Which leads to bad bad things.

I get amnesia when im standing next to you-OU-OU!!!

OH MY GOD! "I forgot my boyfriend was the one that had bought me this ROCK"?!?!?!

This is what I get for not having english as my native tongue.

I've been singing "I forgot my boyfriend was the one that had bought me this BRA" and thereby putting a much more sexual angle to the song...

Like "I forget everything around when I'm with you, as I am undressing, I don't even think about who bought me my lingerie"

    I suck

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
