People say the meanest things
Yeah I've been called a dick, I've been called so many things
I know I've done some shit that I admit deserves it, but that
That don't mean it doesn't sting
Saw you standing outside a bar
Would have said you're beautiful but I've used that line before
Now I've had my share of shallow nights
'Cause I was scared to get it right
So I was hanging with whoever

But baby then you
You love, love, love me, love me better
You love, love, love me, love me better
There's been times I gave myself
To someone else, to someone lesser than you
Love, love, love me, love me better

Love me better

When I met you I was treading water
And baby I know you know I got an eye that wanders
But right now in this car that we're driving to your sister's
All I'm lookin' for is something that's forever

Baby then you
You love, love, love me, love me better
You love, love, love me, love me better
There've been people that I've loved before
But they were something lesser, 'cause you
Love, love, love me, love me better

Love me
Love me better
Love me
Love me better

People say the meanest things
Yeah, but truth be told, I don't care what they think
I got someone who is lying in my bed right next to me
Yeah she love, love, loves me
Love, love, loves me
Love me better

Loves me better

There's been times I gave myself
To someone else, to someone lesser than you
Love, love, love me, love me better

    My Interpretation

I think that this song is really quite ironic. To me it seems to be saying that because he loves her he says he doesn't so she won't get her heart broken by him even worse. When he sings the line "I will wrap my body in other womens arms" he seems to be saying he will probably cheat, but he doesn't want to hurt her, so he lies(by saying he doesn't love her even though he does) to set her free of him.

Hey! I'm the first one to post! I guess it has only been out a week...

It makes sense to me, having recently been through an awkward break up. It could be that he loves a girl, and maybe they've broken up, but he still has feelings for her. Maybe he thinks he's being honorable by telling her he has no feelings for her anymore so she can go off to pursue her own dreams without remaining accountable to him. Or it could be that he was the one breaking up with her, and he loves her but can't stay in the relationship, so lies to set her free.

Either way, the juxtaposition between the music video visuals and the actual song is quite astounding, you should check it out!

Didn't knew the song. I just found out about it today, and now I can't get enough of it. I find so sad and I can relate to the lyrics. This is what I'm going through right now.

well as i understad it, this songs tell us about a man who is dating a woman, but he knows he doesn't deserve her (feel better than i am) because he knows he often cheats and he doesn't get involved too much (Im not looking for us). He likes easy love and he has broke many hearts before. And he is sure that he will do it again, and although he loves this woman, he knows he will do it again and will break her heart eventually. So this guy is trying to end things up before he start doing stupid actions. He wants her to be happy.

This song.. is very profound.. he's saying in the beginning of the song that he's not as invested as she is, even if he is feeling her like that.. she's just one of the many women that he will run through... he's a compulsive cheater, and even though he feels something for her, he will lie to her face and say that he doesnt love her so that his lie "i dont love you" will break her heart and set her free from being with him and him only hurting her.. "though it kills me.. it's a lie that sets you free".. he's telling her that he can't be the man that she wants him to be.. she's looking for an us.. but he's not.. so she should go away and find a man who can be all that she needs, wants and deserves.. haven't we all been there.. where someone is into us but while we like them , we dont really care about them to the extent that they care about us.. so instead of stringing her along.. he lies to her in the hopes that she will leave him alone.. so he can continue wtih his empty relationships

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
