In The Event Of An Accident

Inside I know what I wish you would know
I think I'd lose it if you left the show
I must have lost my mind when I thought I was strong
In the event if it comes down to you or me
I'll take my cue and it's my time to leave
I couldn't go on with that in my head
I hope you remember those last words that I said

I miss you...

All my life I've wanted you to sympathize
But I know that I got everything I need and
If I died I'd have a smile on my face tonight
Now I'm not saying that I want to go, and I'm not saying that I'll cut it short
But I won't feel low, I'll just try to make the best in the event of an accident

I can tell you got news by the look in your eyes
You can tell me just give it to me straight
Vision blurs and the world starts to turn into white
I feel like I'm gettin better
Are you from this world? Are you an angel?
You seem just perfect and the bright white light feels good in my eyes

When the hell did I get so tired
It's the blood loss creepin into my world
Pick me from the road and I won't fight. Do your thing I'll do mine
You can try all ya want but it won't help me. I'm fashioned for dyin
Give me a ride to music of the siren
All across city while we fly like the wind
With the flashin of the lights and the eyes of crowd all lookin at me
It's the first in my life that I truly feel like a celebrity

Will you cover my story?

All my life I've wanted you to sympathize
But I know that I got everything I need and
If I died I'd have a smile on my face tonight
Now I'm not saying that I want to go, and I'm not saying that I'll cut it short
But I won't feel low, I'll just try to make the best in the event of an accident

I saw you lean over a black box and weep
Someone less familiar mentions I was too young to sleep
Pick your head up, whoa, and listen to me
I don't want to see your tears, I wanna see your pearly white teeth
So someone tell a joke about how I used to be
Laugh out loud and scream and shout while ya make fun of me

???
We lived happily
You should go on without me...

All my life I've wanted you to sympathize
But I know that I got everything I need and
If I died I'd have a smile on my face tonight
Now I'm not saying that I want to go, and I'm not saying that I'll cut it short
But I won't feel low, I'll just try to make the best in the event of an accident

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
